Joe has mentioned only boxing for a year more, which is only one or two more fights. This fight would make him a champ at LH then he could face the champ. Can't see fights with Pavlik/Taylor being made as he's moving up. Would people actaully be happy with a RJJ fight?

Yankees stadium seats about 60,000 for a basball game. I imagine for boxig with the ring being so much smaller and seating on the field it would be close to 65-70K. And I can tell you one thing. IN order to fill that up they would need to offer seats at $10 and comp flights from the UK

what i am saying is, is that the 16mil offer is bull****. if you really think they're offering joe that amount to come to america and fight hopkins then you're a bigger idiot than i thought.

oh, and 50,000 came to see him fight kessler, not bad huh :hey

at least people don't walk out of his fights, did you see FM-baldomir?

I have no interest in this fight. I want Calzaghe-Hopkins or Calzaghe-Dawson.

Cal vs Woods would have to be a risk/reward/timing/stay busy option setting up a larger fight.

Woods while being a decent journeyman isnt on Calzaghes level. A worthy LHW fight but not THE TYPE of fight Calzaghe should be in right now, UNLESS it's part of a larger plan.

The 16million offer was a buyout offer to Calzaghe and Warren so that GBP would have sole promotion rights over Calzaghe essentially buying him from Warren. 16million to Joe with an additional 2mill to Warren.

Who knows the rest of the details

Hopkins is a bigger name in Sheffield than Clinton Woods LOL. Seriously Calzaghe wont except anyone but Hopkins, Jones Jnr or Pavlik Taylor Winner

Why is everyone saying this fight is ****? Clinton Woods is a good fighter, he's not a journeyman he's the light-heavyweight champion ffs!

Infact, I reckon Woods might give Calzaghe a better fight than Hopkins, purely because Woods is capable of matching Calzaghe's workrate, something that Hopkins would never have been able to do in his prime 10 years, let alone aged 43.

The only thing Hopkins offers in this fight is a name, and the worst thing is most people here KNOW that and STILL want him to fight b-Hop.

Apparently the Jones fight entirely summerises the entirety of Clinton Woods career.
Also do any Hopkins fans really want their man to fight Calzaghe at this stage of his career? Surely he's too old now and will only get a kicking.

Yes because Hopkins hits hard doesn't he? The last person he knocked out was a welterweight, 3 years ago

Calzaghe hasn't hit hard since he hurt his hand, but still enough to hurt Kessler and Lacy

And the operative word there is "solid", and even in capitals it doesn't add any weight to your argument

Hopkins solid punches havn't looked like knocking a fighter out, since 3 years ago against a welter weight

So realistically, his punches are going to do nothing more than hurt a strong SMW, if he even bothers to throw any. His prime weapon is his head, to be honest
