Calzaghe doesn't have enough star power in the US to make Kessler a star in the US.

Kessler just needs to sign with HBO ... he was offered fights with Jermain Taylor and Winky Wright ... those are the type of fights that can make a name for him in the US.

Calzaghe not going to do good as a promoter ... you can live off your name in the ring, but outside it means nothing.

It takes alot more to promoting a fight than saying "this is going to be a war" at a press conference. Finance, timing, patience, matchmaking, fight venues, fees, sanctions, and so on, all come into play when promoting a fight.

Boxing reminds me of the rap game ... every rapper wants their own label ... and all boxer want to be promoters ... its not a way to get more money ... its a way to get broke.

There are a few promoters state side that are stuggling ... I just read that MainEvents doesn't have an elite athlete right now and is cutting down their promotions and are focusing on local (New Jersey based) fights.

Suyacan, Warriors, hell even Golden Boy have down periods and if it wasn't for Golden Boy's large stable they would be in a bunch of trouble.

"Had not seen your post, but it is damn good there are others who have the same view as me.
I am about to be fed up mogens palle he is indeed a fool of rank, know that it is him who brought mikkel forward, but he use people and then let them lie in the gutter, he done it more than ones. Have to admit that I like constellation JC Kessler, believe there could be something good out of it.
    Greetings wolfie"

    THN co signed.

    The problem is as follow.

Morgen's Palle is the man i danish boxing for more than 50 years. He alone has done alot/everything for boxing in Denmark. HOF and he deserved it.

Palle is a circus director. At hes best, he had a boxing night every second month. All over the country he staked the local gym.

When Brian Nielsen came along, so did the television and Palle signed some lucrative TV-deals the upcoming years. It was still all business and Palle had some 10 decent fighters.

Then Bredahl, Larsen and Kessler came along. The were true world talents, and all of sudden Palle himself wasn't the star. Palle make them good fights, but somehow it become obvious, that Palle wasn't in top of things anymore.

The last 4 years Kessler was the only Palle fighter left. No good TV-deals, bad health and who should take over the Palles life piece?.

In the Kessler - Calzaghe fight Kessler was so much bigger than Palle and he was way over hes head and in the background.

After the next two low budget fights, all of a sudden, danish television and media wants there piece of Kessler. The true boxing fans wants Kessler to fights in US, but are overwhelmed by normal sports spectators, who now cries for a Larsen - Kessler fight.

Palle for years has stated, that this fight would never came along. He kept on claiming that they was trying to get a fight i the US. Time went along and no real fight was insured. Slowly the Larsen fights gets more interesting.

Finally Kessler was aware of the situation. Kessler, who has been loyal to Palle, knew he was let down on hes seek for the big US fights.

Now everybody in Denmark (minus true boxing fans) wants the Larsen - Kessler fight. It will be good for so many local things - just like when the circus came to town 40-50 years ago!

    Damn sad actually.

We have absolutely no idea about Calzaghe as a promoter. For Kessler to sign with him would be a HUGE risk. I think Kessler should sign with a good american promoter even they may want a bigger piece of the cake. I would even prefer a German promoter and probably even Frank Warren to Calzaghe.
