ITs becoming painful how you can get it so wrong atsch. Kessler didnt retire before facing Calzaghe atsch Froch wasnt Calzaghes mandatory at that time. Froch was fighting to become WBC mandatory, where Kessler was champ, but Kessler took a unification fight with Calzaghe, Calzaghe beat Kessler but went on to challenge Hopkins (the LHW champ) which was considered a bigger fight and challenge than the then British champ atsch Froch won the vacant WBC SMW title after Calzaghe had moved up in weight, had 2 fights at the weight above and retired This is what I mean when I say you have been pwned in every debate
I like that you are one of the few who has actually thought about it and given it some time. I see Eubank as the #1 with so many good defences and considering 18 WBO SMW title fights 14 of those fights were against fighters who were, had been or became top 10 SMWs. One was a unification and another was against the undefeated former IBF SMW champ (relinquished his title). In fact 6 of the fighters he faced had been or became world champs and wins over undefeated (relinquished IBF SMW champ) Rocchgiani, Malinga who would go on to be WBC SMW champ twice after, Holmes, Wharton, Watson to name a few I put Ottke at 2 It was only Ottkes 13th fight when he won a world title Ottke made 21 title defences and was a winner of 22 world title fights Ottkes reign was impressive when you consider he wasnt a puncher and didnt have an equalizer in his fists. Look at who Ottke beat C Brewer the then IBF SMW champ for the title, beaten twice G Johnson who went on to become the Ring & IBF LHW champ S Branco who went on to become the WBA LHW champ A Mundine who went on to become the 2 time WBA SMW champ B Mitchell the then WBA SMW champ and 2 time WBA champ R Reid the former WBC SMW champ and still world class A Krajnc the former WBO MW champ (a smaller fighter) M L****n world class who went on to become European champ R Markussen world class who went on to become European champ T Tate beaten twice D Starie J Butler After those 2 I find it all a bit debateable but probably favour Collins for the 2 wins over Eubank, 2 over Benn and the Sellier win. Im surprised that Park and Liles havent had more of a mention on these threads, though that was some time ago. Still although I dont completely agree with you its well thought out
You seem to rate longevity of the fighters very highly. Thing is with Ottke, even though he had a good run he wasn't the dominant champ in a lot of his defenses such as Reid, Brewer X2, Mads Lar5en, Mitchell, Glen Johnson and could/should have lost some of those fights. All the fighters mentioned in the poll are greater fighters than Ottke, its just at SMW their achievements weighed up with the dominance places Ottke higher than a few of them. After thinking about it a little, maybe Ottke should be placed just above James Toney who didn't do much at the weight. Ottke best win that is dominant would probably be a Novice Mundine, or a Branco which isn't all that great compared to the rest. Eubank on the other hand is a true great at SMW, MW and boxing in general.
I've asked you twice in this very thread. So you failed by claiming I only just asked you. Another Failey. let me know what eric is some time soon, I have asked you thrice now and will soon bore of asking you.
do you often have diarrhoea troubles? let me know if you can tell me who eric is if you want to help, cheers.
Those fighters must be thanking their lucky stars the ref saved them from ending up mentally handicapped like Jeff Left Hook Lacy got. :nod
This aint a laughing matter Joe "legend killer" Calzaghe was about to take their souls, and some of those punches were actually hitting.
