Calzaghe is a bit cocky at times and not short on confidence, but you can guarantee this is to get Hopkins in the ring.

I think it indicates the difference in intelligence levels between the two of them. Hopkins decides to talk up a potential opponent in order to get more credit when he wins or not look so bad when he loses. Against Lacy Calzaghe went on and on about how bad Lacy was but then when he won he expected to be treated like a god. "When I beat Lacy..." etc.

 I just think Joe is more sincere, especially after the fight, than people give him credit for...Take Lacy for example...Joe said he was crap...he had always admitted that Lacy was made to measure for him...and most people here would admit that when Joe fought Lacy, Lacy was not in the first 5 fighters in the division...

...One thing about Joe though - he will love taking out hyped opponents, especially when they carry a big name...hence, he wants to go for Hopkins...

Hopkins speaks of Calzaghe's 20 defenses of the WBO title as if they were legitimate when this just undermines his title reign. He really does build his opponents up although he doesn't really need to now Calzaghe has beaten Kessler. Every little helps I suppose.

Go watch his interview after the Kessler fight. He said boxing is all about the money. It's a common enough view that's probably shared by the majority of boxers.

I think Calzaghe just says it how he sees it.

You've gotta remember, Calzaghe wanted Taylor not Kessler. Not a bad call...

I reckon he's a fine judge. Just get's a little less tactful when it suits him...

Just answer me one thing. Why are you so anti-British? I realise that this has little to do with this thread but you claim to be British but I have heard nothing but bile whenever you talk about anything to do with here? If you hate it so much why don't you ****off? This country is getting overrun by ****s like you.

Size or no size, Hopkins has 3 future hall of famers on his resume...Hoya, Tito and Wright. Calzaghe has zero. Case Closed. Also, I'll reach here and say that Glencoffe Johnson is just about as good as any of Calzaghes wins :deal

Two welterweights? You're an idiot. Wasn't Trinidad a Middleweight titleholder and undefeated when lost to Hopkins? Don't discredit Bernards win because Tito started his career lighter. Floyd started at 130lbs, does that mean if Hatton beats him he only beat a "super-feather"????

Hopkins record is much better than Calzaghes...doesnt mean that he would win today. I dont think that he is being that disrespectful, just trying to bait hopkins into fighting him. What is all the fuss about? It happens before nearly every big fight.

That's not reaching, it's a fact. For once I'm in total agreement with you

It's also not reaching to say that Johnson was a routine win for B-Hop, whereas Calzaghe shamelessly ducked him twice (I can't fight I'm all broken up over my divorce :nut ) Fight gets rearranged (I can't fight I've hurt my back, I'm going to have to fight a mandatory bum instead :nut )

Back when this fight would have been meaningful (anytime around 2002) Hopkins would have just systematically broken Calzaghe to pieces....the only reason this fight is interesting now is down to Bernards age, and some clever match-making by team Calzaghe. He's beaten 2 undefeated fighters in Lacy and Kessler and everyones screaming "he's an all time great"

He should have unified that 168 division ****ing YEARS ago, if he was that ****ing good.
