Not sure really.... Its an interesting way of comparing fighters though. Its tricky because pre-fight Lacy was the man.... He was sensational- I cannot emphasize enough how much he impressed me. It was easily Joes best win, but Lacy has completely stagnated since and will never be anything more then a name on his record.
Boy he had you hoodwinked?!:yikes I thought Lacy was entertaining to watch but that was all. The kid although a slugger of sorts wasnt a great puncher and only ever looked good against C and D level opposition. He NEVER moves his head. Possesed no jab to speak of. Didnt throw combinations and walked forward in straight lines. Makes for entertaining viewing but as i said loudly and longly before there bout that Lacy was nothing more than a very green prospect with a vacant belt around his waste.
I think so, Lewis vs hypejob against Calzaghe vs hypejob etc I haven't seen enough of Lacy's earlier stuff to make a judgement, and, after all, anything I would do now is in retrospect - easy to say that someone (Reid for instance) was shot etc and put him down.
Check out Lacy vs Jason Collins. He looked awesome on that bill. I think Bami, Arthur and Joe stablemate whathisface were on it. Lacy obliterated him. But Collins was only a journeymen. I remember Lacys first fight as a pro. The guy when he saw Lacy at the weigh in got back on the bus and went home! People were in awe of physique and power punching style. BUT Lacy was a very green champ who won a vacant belt against an old Vanderpool.I mean he hadnt beaten anyone!!! He really struggled with Grant as well and was cut for the first time in that fight. He did the same vs Sheika. Although i love Jeff`s attitude he was a flawed fighter from the outset. Some US journalists were even comparing him to Tyson!! The kid had so much smoke blown up his ass and Lacy fans were saying there boy was going to KO Joe.atsch All Lacy was was the Arturo Gatti of 68 that just came to fight and bleed. And that was all he ever was.
I like the way Lacy put his shots together... I can see where your coming from with his defence though. His speed was excellent... I liked his attitude too... Gary Shaw certainly believed in him.
Not for me mate. I was watching Lacy long before he turned pro and watched almost all his fights since he turned pro.
Shaw would promote a midget if he had to. Lacy`s attitude was great for boxing. He`d fight anyone at the drop of a hat.
He's a candidate for most posted about British boxer, it's goddamn ridiculous over in General still. Post after post regarding him...certainly can't say the Joe-RJJ fight didn't whip up interest here.
I think a lot of British posters post solely on the General Forum, because they can troll away about whatever they wish without fear of being called stupid.
Johnson nearly upset his applecart. Dawsons nice. He did a stellar jab on Tarver. But Tarver doesnt punch back when things dont go his way. He`s adecent up and coming talent. But he`s not ready for a guy like Joe yet.
Even if you throw resumes out the window which Lennox clearly has the better, he was also a more skilled boxer then Joe, ihmo.
