no way! Froch fought the best around really close together when Joe had many of his big fights spread out over the course of his career. if you get rid of the crap fights that don't mean anything for Joe and put all his good ones in a pile, it looks much better than Froch. there is no debate for me. i'd consider someone to be crazy if they picked Froch. it makes no sense to do so. it's not just about the undefeated career. if Froch had lost a couple but had beaten better fighters than Joe, then fair enough. but he's no where near to Joe's resume. :deal
so it was up to Joe whether he fought a prime Jones and Hopkins or not? that's bull****. but it's what i've come to expect on here. they both turned him down. if you think you know better, then please explain what Joe should have done to get those two fights?
Now tell me, how does Froch have the better resume? The two best fighters on Froch's resume are Ward and Kessler, he is 1-2 against them. Calzaghe has more titles, a longer string of title defenses, and beat a prime Kessler. Kessler was past his prime and Froch still lost to him. Ward is the only guy that Froch has fought that is any better than anyone on Calzaghe's resume. Everyone else on the list are pretty much non-factors and pretty even in terms of rankings. Even though Calzaghe fought a past prime Hopkins, I don't think Froch could beat him NOW.
this! Joe was a good fighter and probably would beat Carl.. but Carl and his persona and willingness to fight anyone will put him above Joe in the minds of the fans
I just can't wait for Hopkins to shut Froch up. Once a lesser version of Kessler and Hopkins beat him how is he going to claim to be better than Calzaghe.
Maybe it was boxing politics, I don't know. I'm just saying if he had fought them, win or lose, his record would look better. I'm not saying he dodged them cos I don't know what went on behind the scenes.
froch at least has ducked no man. Joe, you ducked bridges if you thought they might have touche d your balding head. However, if these two met, there is only one conclusion. Joe wipes the floor with Froch, who has decent stamina and punching power to keep you honest, but that is all. No one punch ko power. Just plodding combinations. Jc dont complain now, your ducking brings its own rewards. Froch, you would look stupid against Calzaghe.
Given the fact that Hopkins spent his prime years fighting nobodies for his paper IBF Middleweight Title when he could moved up to fight Calzaghe in 2002/2003 at Super Middleweight but priced himself out of the deal, or he could have moved up to fight Jones or Toney at Light Heavyweight in 2002/2003 but priced himself out of the deal then I dont think you can use Hopkins to criticize Calzaghe's decision to stay in the UK defending his paper title throughout his prime years. The only differance between them is that Hopkins was prepared to fight on long after his prime and developed a style that would help him do it and gained a greater respect than he would have otherwise had he retired in 2005/2006, but Calzaghe had no intention of fighting years beyond his prime and getting his head bashed in for a payday like Holyfield did so bowed out while he was on top and the height of his fame.
Not elite?, I hope you're not being serious with that. Does he have to dominate Taylor to be elite?, isn't it enough that he went to Taylor's backyard with his title and won? Dirrell fight was a robbery indeed but it was still close. Sorry, but you don't make it to the super six finals without being elite.
