Hopkins knows how to get out of trouble. He will hold your arms, hug you, elbow you, headbutt you, hit you in the nuts, whatever he has to do. I HIGHLY doubt Calzaghe stops him.

I couldn't careless who won the fight, I am just of the opinion that comparing Hamed to Joe Calzaghe is ridiclious.

Hatton wasn't fighting a faded version of a great fighter, he was fighting perhaps the greatest fighter of his generation at his peak. You can't compare Hamed to Calzaghe just like you cannot compare Hopkins to Floyd.

    why is it?

comparing styles don't make sense because Hamed was Hamed ... but when you compare their stardom ... and their overall hype from the european media ... their undefeated records and the fact that you couldn't name 5 credible opponents on the resume at the time they fought the big name US fighter.

I'm not going to make Joe Calzaghe's resume seem better than it is, but the fact of the matter is, Calzaghe dominated super middleweight for many years. If you're insinuating he doesn't belong in the ring with a Bernard Hopkins - a faded one at that - then I'll have to disagree with you.

In the sport of Boxing, you can't really draw these kind of comparisons to conclude who will win a boxing match. As you said, Hamed is Hamed, and Calzaghe is Calzaghe, who is by now a much more established fighter than Hamed ever was.

It'll be an interesting match-up but due to his advantages in age and the stylistic problems that he poses an old Hopkins, I'll have to go with Joe.

Hopkins dominated the MW division for 10 years and was undisputed champion (first fighter to hold all 4 major belts at the same time + the ring belt) for 4 years straight.

Now if you think that Calzaghe's going to white wash Hopkins you're out of your mind and that goes for anyone who thinks that.

Hopkins has never been dominated in such a fashion and its not possible that it happens now.

No matter if he wins or loses -- it will be close ... I'm picking him to win given Europe's history crossing overseas ...

    I agree with you.

I don't think Calzaghe white washes an old pro like Hopkins. Nobody ever would. But, Calzaghe is likely to set a pace that Hopkins hasn't had to deal with since his prime, and it's on workrate that I give Calzaghe the edge.
