your bull****. see, easy, anyone can say that.

in fact I've never denied he was 31, so, fail.

but YOU deny Eubank was two weight divisions out days before, about to retire and unmotivated to win the wbo title again. still a game cookie on the night, but prime? a good way off it, and not even interested in winning.

    LOL!
Put down the crack pipe Joe (although I have heard he has moved on to Meth), and think about why you didn't rematch Hopkins.

Eubank wasn't two weight divisions higher days before. He was preparing to fight Mark Price at Light Heavyweight on the Collins/Calzaghe undercard when he was asked to step in for the injured Collins. That's only one weight division.

Eubank wasn't "about to retire", far from it, he was only two fights removed from coming out of retirement. It would be over a year and two more world title fights before he retired for the second time and it was not a retirement he planned in advance.

If Eubank wasn't motivated to win he would not have taken the fight in the first place - he was never the kind of man to take fight he had no interest in winning. He thought the green and unproven Calzaghe would easy pickings and that he wouldn't have to come into the fight with the best condition to get the win, he underestimated Calzaghe and that's a large part of why he lost, but its ridiculous to say he wasn't interested in winning the fight at all.

He didn't rematch Hopkins for a very simple reason; he was intending to retire after 2008 and wanted a big payday to go out on and Hopkins/Calzaghe 1 was such an ugly and almost unwatchable affair that any rematch would have sold very poorly on PPV.

LOL, well he got that big pay check, and then smoked it up in a year.
Joe retired because he was afraid to lose that "0", which would have definitely happened had he kept fighting outside of the crooked official Wales where he was blessed with about 15 pre-mature stoppages of the bums he fought there. :yep

Calzaghe retired because he was a money-fighter, not a legacy-fighter, and had no intention of fighting into his 40's. He'd spent the vast majority of his career not giving a flying **** what people thought about him and his place in the sport's history, perfectly happy to just take easy fights for easy money with the WBO Title and not challenge himself. I doubt being "afriad to lose that 0" had much of an impact on him.
