B-HOP has already stated this fight will probably happen in mid-late SUMMER 2008 (crazy he wants it so late unfortunately), so in the interim, why doesn't JOE CALZAGHE move up to 175 and grab a belt vs. IBF champ CLINTON WOODS- great British matchup- bragging rights, etc..- also this would be an AWESOME fight!!- styles/chemistry, all action.. alot of punch volume and output.. this would definitely go the distance.. and BERNARD, the RING/Linear 175 champ- will meet the more recognized alphabet champ (IBF) later in the summer good idea/>?? Well of course you don't want to know because Woods is white and not American. But he beat Glen Johnson and beat Gonzalez and holds the IBF belt so anyone who was not utterly myopic would see it as a worthy fight.
I dont think his colour is the issue here. Yanks just simply dont know anything beyond there own country.There ignorance is almost genetic.
if he successfully moved up and claimed woods title, it would make joe vs hopkins evenr more spicey....i think joe will have to take a fight between now and any summer blockbuster, and, rather than tarnish his image/reputation with a marking time fight, i think woods is where its at....calzaghe has historically failed to please when he has been fighting guys way beyond his level..at least woods would give teh fella a bit of an elemeent of the unknown and put a bit of fire in his belly...plus, domestically, its the biggest fight out there now haye/enzo aint happening....
Thats because you have never heard of him.Prior to the Kessler JC bout most yanks didnt even know who JC was let alone Kessler.Woods has already been in the ring with Roy Jones and beaten solid US vets on Gonzalez Johnson and Rico Hoye.Woods is also a world champ and holds a portion of the 175lb title.This bout needs to be made for British bragging rights alone let alone what you yanks think.
I'd rather he got Hopkins first. But if Hopkins dosen't want to fight till the summer. then JC should aim for a Woods bout soon enough.
If he wants to make a debut fight in LHW before taking on Hopkins he has two options: fight Woods which would be a great fight in Britain or as WBO SMW champ he has the right to call out Erdei for his LHW title any time. That would make sense because a figth btw the winner and Bhop would settle the LHW linear dispute once and for all.
Have you seen JCs house?? Its hardly a Crib Calzaghe will just fight known veteran boxers now. Its all about the big payday
