I know, 250% of the purse he made against MASSIVE commercial success and globally recognized star, longtime p4p #1 Roy Jones Jr. - to return fat and inactive to kinda sorta but not really settle a score with a prime titlist who can't draw flies to ****. Yep.
ward couldn't draw a crowd to a family reunion. The only way that Joe could get 25 mill from this fight is if they had Stevenson v Krusher, FLoyd v Wlad, and Pac v Vitali all as the undercard and they do not pay any other fighters
thread says joe coming back to fight £25 mill Ward. Calzaghe translation = Joe comes back for £2.5 mil to fight 50 year old James Toney. (Later it turns out Toney hadn't ever signed for the fight and ''late replacement' Will Mcintyre replaces him).
Calzaghe beat both legends Hopkins and Jones so he doesn't need to prove anything more. Besides, it's gonna be a boring fight.
Calzaghe has confirmed that he will never make a come back..............$25,000,000 is a bunch of bull.............
There will be no fight, no come-back for Calzaghe. He meant it when he retired...................nobody offered him $25,000,000 for a comeback anyway..........Calzaghe has confirmed once again that he will never come back..........
Yes, Calzaghe would have beaten Ward, very true............... Right now Ward is running from Stevenson who called him out live on HBO, Ward still refuses to answer him. Stevenson said he would even come down to 168, but where was Ward? Ward has a big money fight coming up if he wants it and that fight is STEVENSON..................
Calzaghe still had his reflexes, speed and stamina in 2008, but his hands were totally shot and he couldn't even spar or train properly without risking damaging them. That's a major handicap for any fighter. Now Calzaghe's been out of the ring for five year, he's not been training, he's been reported to have used cocaine, and there's no way he could come back and be half as good as he was in 2008. If he chose to come back it would just be for the payday and practically everybody would know it. It would not be a credibile fight for Ward and nobody would put any stock in it whatsoever. It would be an entierly pointless endeavor, that would be a foregone conclusion and waste of everyone's time. The only positive for Calzaghe (beyond the money issue) might be if he performs better than people expect him to and troubles Ward and gets some repect from that but, frankly, I dont think that would be worth it. All irrelevant anyway because Calzaghe retired on his own terms, happy with his decision, and is never coming back.
