According to the Daily Mail Calzaghe wants one last fight in Wales,so he can say a proper farewell to fans. The possible apponent could be Carl Froch, what do you guys think of this?

Thought Calzaghe didn't want to give him a payday?

I would still watch it though, expecting a Calzaghe easy UD and probably winning 10 rounds at least.

Calzaghe won't want to go back down to SMW though and Froch without a title is not a viable fight. Joe will gain NOTHING.

Dawson would be my choice. B-Hop rematch too risky IMO, if he wants a farewell that he will gain something from as well it would have to be Dawson. Risky too, but he will gain some reputation for beating Dawson, whereas beating Hop again/losing to Hopkins will only tarnish it.

I'm starting to think if he fights anyone it should be Dawson for the simple reason, many people over the pond already rate him higher than Calzaghe and although he's a very good technical fighter I don't think he has quite hit the top level. It could cement Joe's legacy or make Dawsons

B-Hop would just be a terrible last fight for Joe, rubbish to watch for his fans and Joe doesn't want to give Hopkins the pay day because of his behaviour

Hopefully he fights someone and gets splattered.

I used to like Calzaghe a lot until after the Hopkins fight.

i believe that calzaghe last fight will be with taylor or maybe glen johnson. the taylor fight would be great because that would allow kessler vs froch which would be another good if not great fight at supermiddleweight. joe could walk away with another big name as he heads off in the sunset and taylor can get his big money and then get out of the ring. for when he gets beat it would be to somebody that he was't supposed to beat anyhow. a lot of british and american fans would love to see it happen.

Joe should fight Dawson the real LHW champ, and who is in his prime.

i think a fairwell cardiff fight was planned all along but i believe it was supposed to be against jones jr,but after the surprising hammering rjj took calzaghe couldn`t possibly annouce he was fighting him again with b hop and kessler screaming out for a rematch.
his options are rematches ,froch, johnson or most likely dawson.

Nah - I hate him because he is an arrogant, deluded fraud, endlessly banging on about 20 world title defences.....

Who gives a **** about title defences these days?

I hate Man Utd that much I have forgotten exactly why, my location would suggest a lot I guess.

Hate Chelsea, John Terry and Steven Gerrard just as much though, so Scum fans aren't alone.

Just like he did Lacy..... then everybody falls off the Dawson-train (like they have Pavlik) and claims its not that great a win....who did Dawson really beat....a couple of 39 year olds.

LOL At least the hate is equally divided so that's fair at least......
Regarding the title defences thing,if you were a boxer who was fighting their way through the ranks, you got the shot and won a title.
You have reached a pinnacle in your career your a champ no matter what the fans say you hold a regonised title, but people dispute your credentials.
They say so and so can beat you and take the title off you, do you say no I wont defend it because it means ****.I think you'd say this is mine and this is how I prove my worth and standing in the sport and I can beat that punks ass.
I suppose when an unworthy opponent gets stuck in front of you, you question it a bit but I'd be like this belts mine you can't fckin have it.

There were a lot of unworthy opponents put his way - how much of it is his fault and down to Frank Warren is open to debate.

But 18 defences without a unification fight is ridiculous. Hatton's first defence of his IBF title was a unification fight.

If it hadn't been the WBO title he probably wouldn't get as much grief, because their mandatories are ****.

The 'I don't do rematches' thing pisses me off. Reid was certainly worth a return, didn't get one, yet Mario Veit did :patsch

Veit was Mandatory though wasn't he.Wouldn't Joe have been stripped if he'd turned it down?
