Calzaghe could be fighting Froch!

Maybe holding onto the title was a big motivation for him just like it was for Hopkins

 

Dawson is the guy he should be fighting (if he fights again). After using the excuse of a payday pension fight to get in the ring with Jones, it would be a disappointment if he fights anyone but Dawson next. He should fight a real live opponent - if he fights again. Froch is unproven, and Johnson has been in more wars then Genghis khan...

Perhaps it was, but a gross misjudgement on his part I'd say.

With boxing being so stupid having three major titles and a load more mickey mouse ones such as the WBO, WBU, IBO etc.....

Who really gives a **** about them?

If you have one, fine, but make sure you fight the best or at least some of them - vacate if you have to.

 

I would prefer if he fought Dawson as he is more highly regarded at this stage.

Nevertheless, it would be nice to shut Carl Froch up, it would be a good farewell fight as a British clash.

 

There would be endless difficulties with this one - promotional, TV etc

Froch's promoter has a deal with ITV for all his fighters.

Calzaghe is with Setanta.

The fight wouldn't be worth Joe's while without Setanta's money...... does he bring US tv money?

 

You're probably right - it does sound a bit fabricated. I'm surprised they haven't linked him to a transfer to Manchester City also.
