Calzaghe couldn't have done any better in terms of comp than he did.

Calzaghe has had poor career management. If things had been done properly years ago he would have taken a small money fight against a big name opponent to make his reputation with the American fans. Many fights are never made simply because of greed. Everybody wants the biggest slice of the pie.

That completely sums it up. He could have done a lot better if he moved up or down, but he didn't.

Roy would have beaten Joe, and that fight just might have been made.

The Toney fight was never a possibility as Toney had moved up, way up, in weight before Joe came on the scene.

And that's a good thing for Toney, as Calzaghe would have beaten him soundly.

There was a lot of good fights out for him. Ottke, Beyer (5 years ago), Danny Green, rematch with Robin Reid, Mundine, Hopkins (5-7 years ago), or he could of moved up to LHV and fought RJJ (5-7 years ago), (DM 5-7 years ago), Tarver, Glen Johnson, Clinton Woods, Toney and Tiozzo to name a few.

Those are a few guys he could have fought that would of made his resume much better.

He could have moved up to light heavy or down to middle and faced better competition, like I dont know, Roy Jones, Hopkins, Wright, Taylor, De La Hoya, Strum, Tarver ect ect. Instead of that his biggest wins are against Lacy and Kessler. An Amero-bum and a Euro-bum. Wowzers.

Right now he's just another Hatton who padded his stats against nobodies.

But obviously giving Veit that rematch was far more important.

These threads are a joke because they are not really about who he could have fought because we all know that. It's simply another way for the Calzaghe back slappers to vent their excuses on behalf of their hero. Ten years of WBO defences, there is no excusing it. Okay?

cvalzaghe could have and should have.

not move down to middle though.

he should have fought better comp at super middle.

they were better names who he could have beat

    lucas/echols/ottke/larson/catley/beyer.

except for larson probably all these fights should have been made over the last 10 years.

    Ottke and Beyer

Those guys were hiding out in the Bavarian forest trying to avoid that fight

Actually sean, Decebal pointed me in your direction. Apparently you know a lot about why a Calzaghe Ottke bout never came off? If you have the time I'd be really interested to hear about it. Cheers.:good

    You know it's true ;)

Beyer got his ass kicked by Kessler badly anyway. He's rubbish

Ottke is a ****ing joke. There's sitting at home, and theres sitting at home getting gift decisions. Joe's IQ is somewhere in the 120-130 range, he's not going over to Germany
