He hasn't blatantly ducked him, he fought Lacy, Kessler and now Jones in quick succession, thats a decent run (Manfredo excluded). Pavliks a good fighter and deserves to be where he is but the reason he's getting all this praise is that the Yanks need somone to cheer and the Welters just don't cut it for them.
The same could be said of the ridiculous over-rating of Calslappy though. When Lewis was active no-one gave a **** about him, and rightly so. Pavlik is only 26 and has a better resume than Calzaghe, that much is fact.
Cal pretty much shoved it in the backside and broke it off in his fans. Left them no real defense. Master Calzaghe is one of the few on that side to admit it.
That may be right but lets stay On-Topic eh?
Pavlik has better resume than Calzaghe? You've got to be joking. Joes isn't the best but Pavliks is a damn site worse. OK, at least Pavlik has time on his side to improve his, but time will tell.

OK, at least Pavlik has time on his side to improve his, but time will tell.
It actually was on topic, the shallow talent pool in the UK is the only reason he's so hyped over here which is the same as what is being said about Pavlik, surely? I do think Pavlik has a better resume than Calzaghe yes, he's the undisputed 160lb champion. OK maybe I'll retract that to his resume is about level with Calzaghes, but when he beats up Hopkins it'll be better, fair enough?
I'm just posting on Calzaghes comments on the poor state of American boxing and its connection to Pavlik, not to defend the UKs fighters. Having said that, if Pavlik beats Hopkins then he's still way off Calzaghes resume IMHO. Pavlik has Miranda, Taylor, Hopkins and MAYBE Zuninga as world class wins. Calzaghe has Hopinks, Kessler, Brewer, Mitchell, Eubanks, Reid, Lacy. Woodhall etc. OK most were past their best but it still beats the hell out of Pavliks list at world class.
he just saying what we americans have been saying for years about euro fighters or any other fighters from other places that only fight in there country.well until they have like 40 wins plus.same ****, you never fought in america so u aint fought nobody.now joe is saying american talent pool is wack. rjj is wack and hopkins was wack, pbf is retired and the hw americans suck.all same **** to me.
The only 2 on Calzaghes list that weren't past their best are Kessler and Lacy - and we still don't know how good their 'best' is. Oh sorry I forgot Reid, who I thought won the fight. I still think KO'ing a prime Jermain Taylor is better than any of Joes wins but of course people will scoff at that, despite the fact that Taylor beat Hopkins far more convincingly than Calzaghe did, and that was when Hopkins actually had something left in the tank.
Hopikins was shot coming into the first Taylor fight (and shot for JC), it says it all that HBOs new, young poster boy struggled to beat him over two fights. Hopkins was done, Taylor was never that good in the first place but because Pavlik beats him he's the new American hero? Don't get too draw into the Taylor-Hopkins-Calzaghe formline..."styles makes fights" and all that.
Pavlik's resume' right now is better than Calzaghe's was when Joe was 26. I think the Lacy and Miranda wins are on equal footing. We know for sure that Joe and Kelly can both beat seven shades of **** out of a crude slugger. However, recent events have taken some shine off those wins. Miranda and Lacy have both shown us that they are not the dangerous monsters many people once thought they were. Hopkins lost to Joe, but a younger, fresher, Hopkins lost twice to Taylor who lost two fights to Pavlik. (I'm not talking about triangulating opponents. I'm only talking about resume.) Mark my words here; Pavlik will stop BHop inside 10 rounds. Hopkins will have his moments, but by the end of the 8th Kelly will be bouncing him around the ring like a little kid bounces one of those red rubber balls around a playground. That leaves Kessler who is still an open question. If they meet up down the road, Taylor will beat Kessler by a close but clear UD. His hands and feet are to fast for Kessler to keep up with. That leaves Joe with sour owl **** for a legacy.
Pavlik at 26 does have a better resume than JC at 26 but I don't see Taylor beating Kessler. We'll see. BTW I think Pavlik will KO Hopkins bit thats "styles" things as well.
The whole styles thing is intriguing to say the least. I think JT beats Kessler convincingly, but Kessler is the biggest threat to Pavliks zero out there, but Pav stops Joe, probably while down on all three score cards. Pavlik/Calzaghe is a fight that should happen, but I really don't think Joe is "promoting." I think he's done, and instead of telling the truth he is playing ****ing kiddy games. Taylor/Kessler and Kessler/Pavlik are also fights that really should happen.
Kessler-Pavlik is a fight I'd like to see!!:good I hope we get to see Calzaghe-Pavlik after Jones and Hopkins, I'm not sure JC will retire after Jones (if he wins) he seems to regard Pavlik as being a winnable fight, I'm sure if the money was there he'd take the fight.
