Personally I think he made a big mistake in taking RJJ. He shouldve fought Pavlik outboxed him for 12 rounds and retired. If RJJ has anything left he will win. This fight is just so so wrong for Joe. And this is coming from a fan of his.

Beating Pavlik would still stand out as Joe's best win or at least second best in his career in the eyes of the majority. And Pavlik wanted Calzaghe before the RJJ fight was signed.

Kessler is Calzaghe's best win.

Eubank is his 2nd

Hopkins is his 3rd or maybe Lacy who has done nothing in his career other than win an ibf title.

 

Aside his opinion about how good Pavlik may or may not be - the rest is just lies - or at best attempts to hide the truth. How can people defend Joe when he keeps coming out with such stuff.

You know what, actually now that I think about it, it DOES kind of burn me that he isn't American. If he was he would have been forced to fight some top-notch opposition rather than hiding in Wales and we would know whether he is actually as good as he and some people think he is and wouldn't all have to ask ourselves 'What If...'

 

Personally I have no problem with Joe saying he doesn't rate Pavlik, but making out that Pavlik only wanted the fight after the RJJ match was made, and making out that Joe has chased him in the past only for Pavlik to run scared is shamefull. The winchester Jones fight is a total joke!

The Pavlik fight was obviously always there for Joe, and he's trying to worm his way out of the criticism by pretty much saying Pavlik ducked him when the total opposite is true - yes I think it's fair to give him stick for that.

 

Why don't you at least try to follow the time line of events and comments. Joe claims he offered Pavlik a fight after Lacy. Back then Kelly's biggest win was an NABF title fight with Fulgencio Zuniga, but according to joe, Kelly was a worthy opponent. Now, 2 years and 7 wins later, he's not worthy.

That **** is indefensible, and I do not care what ****ing country he's from. As a matter of fact, of my top 5 favorites, Pavlik is the only American!

 

And NO ONE has benefited from a weak talent pool more than Ole Joe.:deal

 

i think calzaghe must be trying to sell the fight by being full of **** and annoying because no one can be that stupid. what he says makes no sense: pavlik is a 'nobody' but yet he wanted to fight him in 06 and 07???? does he like to fight 'nobodies' or is he full of ****?

 

It never ceases to amaze me here: you Brits are so weird in your belief that 'Yanks' give a rat's ass about whether a fighter is American or not. I root against American fighters all the time, mostly because the particular fighter happens to be loudmouthed and obnoxious. Same reason I'd like to see Haye sent through the ropes: he annoys me. But it has nothing to do with nationality. The American fans I know don't have anywhere near the kind of jingoistic bias that you think they do. You guys are much, much more concerned about country than we are.
