You tell em Joe. Shout it from the rooftops. Joe El presidente. All Hail King Joe. Hands of stone, Chin of titanium, hands faster than a speeding bullet.. JOE JOE JOE the greatest... woohoo.. yeah.. wahey.. woohaa.. giggidy... goo
Well, some say his record would bear this out, but I'm far from an authority on Ole Joe's resume. Kessler is his best win and Kessler isn't setting the world on fire.
Funny how Slappy talks of how weak the US boxing talent pool is, yet his stablemate Lockett just got his ass beat by Pavlik back in June. Amir Khan just got annihilated when he finally fought a non-European and Calzaghe himself barely squeaked past a 43 year old Hopkins. Ask Hatton what he thinks about the American talent pool....last I checked he got FTKO by an American fighter
He's spot on Who the hell as Pavlik beat? One guy, famed for getting gift decisions. "Bad Decisions" Taylor.
There are 2 points i would like to make on this subject. 1. Calzaghe knows Pavlik would be a much tougher fight than RJJ and a better way to end his career, but he took the Jones fight first because there is more money in it. 2.Calzaghe's comments make him completely hypocritical and i think he is just stirring the ****.IMO it is all a deliberate marketing ploy for a mega-fight next year between Calzaghe and Pavlik. If both win convincingly this fight would make major $$$ for both fighters
He is right tho, JT apart Pavliks resume is weak. I know it could be argued Calzaghe only has 3 credible wins, but in terms of legacy Roy Jones will look better on Joe's resume, especially if Pavlik gets beat down the line by someone like Abraham, and everyone brands him another hyped up Lacy type. Roy Jones is guarenteed legend on his resume, plus the fight is worth a lot more money. Go for it Joe.
and you know the opposite is true do you. how long you known the guy. come on mate give him a break. i know personaly from before the kessler fight that he was only going to fight 2 more times after that fight and he was fighting for the money.(think of it as a pension) why do you think snake eyes warren has gone. and for the record calzaghe never ducked pavlic. he just doesnt bring enough to the table. if he beats hopkins and offers some serious money expect to see the fight happen.
Bob Arum and Frank Warren both claim there was more money in a Pavlik fight. Of course one has to consider the source, but the claim was made. Considering that HBO wanted the fight, and Pavlik/calzaghe could sell out any arena in the mid-west, on the east coast, or in Great Britian, and do huge PPv numbers, -- well -- it's food for thought.
