Exactly! Calzaghe has only been on peoples radar (160 -175) since the Lacy fight. before that nobody was interested.

Simple question that JC fans can't seem to answer. I've found a few honest ones, but a lot of avoidance...

I've spoken about Joe's resume and potential opponents at length

You probably didn't notice at the time, it was your alter-ego, the Joe Calzaghe fan

I just asked if you think he made an effort to pursue the biggest fights possible during that time period of his "prime"...I'd say it's obvious he didn't...If you don't want to answer, it's fine. If you don't like the thread, stop responding to it.

    Please.

Fights with Hopkins/RJJ/Toney were NEVER an option. He wasnt even in the same division as any of them at the same time for a start. He wasnt a big name then, so why would they fight him ?

Ottke and Beyer would NEVER fight him so that just leaves people like Lucas/Siaca/Girard etc... who he would have had no problems at all with.

So tell me, what "unified champions and ATG's" as you put it should he have fought ? Because fights with RJJ and HOpkins were never an option

Please name these quality opponents he should have faced? Because im sure they were all crying out to fight a unknown welsh belt holder.

u are pretty biased and cant see the flip side

And your proof of who would or would not fight him is where???

And the fights with Glen Johnson that never happened, why didn't those get worked out?

forget asking questions. Corona cant answer them.

I posted my reply nearly straight away and he fails to even acknowledge it, instead picking holes in lesser arguements as he seees fit and ignores main points.

    sigh

I never saw all these people avoiding JC, did you???

Besides, as an American and avid boxing fan, I NEVER SAW ANYTHING ABOUT JOE CALZAGHE CALLING OUT THESE BIG NAME FIGHTERS.

He never called out RJJ in the US. He never made a fight with Tarver or Johnson. He never went after Trinidad or any of the guys with any sort of name.

Am I to believe that there was NO POSSIBLE way for JC to fight anyone better than those on his resume? Were those the best POSSIBLE FIGHTS???

    What proof ?

RJJ/TONEY/HOPKINS probably didnt even know who Calzaghe was back then, so if they didnt know who he was why would they fight him ? Its no one ducking anyone, its the circumstances werent there.

There's proof that Ottke turned down 2 fights with Calzaghe, thats been posted on this forum countless times.

You do know he was schedules to fight Glen Johnson twice, back injury the first time. Hand injury the second time. He actually fought Sakio Bika who was a replacement for Glen Johnson because of the injury as JOhnson scheduled another fight.

    Again, nobody avoiding anybody.

Calzaghe fought the best opponents available, and his resume is only underated by people on this forum, because of the way he's dispatched his opponents. People like Charles Brewer etc would be championship contenders today.

So tell me, who should he have fought then ?

Bika was after Lacy. I am talking about beforehand.

    Tarver
    Johnson
    RJJ
    Trinidad
    Toney

    etc.

Um...these guys knew who Eubank and Benn were, so I'm guessing they heard of JC.

What I'm saying is this: I never saw JC calling out any top fighters. I don't see top fighters on his resume.

    What I'm asking is simples...

DO YOU THINK THAT WAS THE BEST JC COULD DO? DO YOU THINK HE FOUGHT THE BEST FIGHTERS POSSIBLE FROM 1997-2006?

Don't laugh because you have nothing better to say.

Trinidad weighed 160, and was the favorite against Hopkins.

    Calzaghe weighed 168.

There's a thing called "catch weight". It's possible for people to sacrifice to make big fights or enhance their career.

Calzaghe chose to just fight to defend the WBO belt, plain and simple.
