If he wanted a big fight before Lacy all he had to do was drop his WBO title. Unfortunately he and Frank Warren are in love with the WBO.

That's a complete bull**** . . . how can anybody claim that the guy pursued the biggest fights when he only fights in his own turf ?

He only fights the one who's willing to go to his territory that's a fact.

We can have this discussion until the cows come home but there is no going back in time. I'm well known for being a Calzaghe detractor but at least he's doing it now.

Yes only now . . . that he fought Kesller (his best opposition so far) and now he is fighting Bhops in U.S.

Joe has fought in germany (Veit) and denmark (Tyson undercard) in the past. Warren should have tried to get him on some more high profile cards around 98-03.

This assessment seems to be very common in Britain - but it's wrong.

Beyer wanted to fight Calzaghe instead of Kessler.

    And Joe didn't fight
Mads Larsen, Glen Johson, Silvio Branco, Anthony Mundine, ...
No ATGs, but decent opponents in his weight class who didn't "duck" him.

Joe simpl should of gone to America earlier in his career to fight Mitchell, Brewer and Sheika. Those 3 fights, had they of happened in the states would of dramatically increased Joe's profile. What takes away from JC's career is fights against Pudwill, McIntyre, Mkrtchian, Manfredo (most disgraceful fight ever) Ashira, Salem etc. Swap them for fights against Lucas, Beyer, Ottke, Johnson, Green and Echols and then it's a lot more impressive.

Some people get waaaay to hung up on this p4p ****. People actually believe Winky Wright is a better win for Hopkins at 170 than Kessler is for Calzaghe at 168, simply because Winky was a p4p'er!! That's crazy talk. Same with regards to Tito/Lacy.

In saying that, how many complaints against Joe are going to be null and void after 19th April. After that, he most likely will of beaten a top American, in America, who was a p4p higher ranked fighter (again though, i'm not a fan of this system) who is a lock for the HOF and an ATG?

With a little help from Google:

Sein Manager habe den Kampf nicht wirklich nach Deutschland holen wollen, kritisierte Beyer. Auch dass der Fight gegen seinen Wunschgegner Calzaghe nicht klappte, wirft er Sauerland vor...

    http://www.1asport.de/sport/boxen/Beyer_verliert_Titel_gegen_Kessler_p4_20130N.html

    I try to sum up:

He criticizes his promoter (Sauerland) because
    - Sauerland did not try to get the Kessler fight to Germany.
    - the fight against his favourite opponent, Calzaghe, was not realized.

I do not know if Warren or Sauerland was to blame. I just can't stand this stupid statements like "Beyer, this *****, never dared to jump in the ring with Calzaghe."

    One word, Warren.

He's getting big fights now that's all that matters.
