An example of buying into Frank Warren's propaganda. They all avoided Joe, why oh why did nobody come to Wales to fight him? :yep

Calzaghe fought once in Denmark and once in Germany.

    Ottke never left Germany

    Jones never left America

    Taylor never left America

    Hopkins fought once outside America

Lacy actually has the balls to travel and fight. Much as what Kessler is doing now. Calzaghe could and should of fought in the states more often, but he wouldn't of made as much money. Do you honestly hold that against him?

He has stated on several occasion that he'd fight Hopkins in Americ and even verbally agreed a deal with him only for, BHOP to change his mind.

Ricky Hatton (who WAS promoted by Frank btw) left warren, came to the states, and now has a mega-fight with the best pound-for-pound fighter of the world making more money than calzaghe has ever made. Let me ask you sir, why WOULDNT Calzaghe want to fight in the states if it was all about the money? slayed.

No doubt! And wouldn't only fighting in Brittain be more like a US fighter only fighting in Texas? Or no more than 2 or 3 large states?

Parken has around 45.000 seats for events like football and speedway, a small boxing ring would probably make space for an extra 15.000.

I don't hold his unwillingness to travel against him, just his soft opposition in his 10 years as champ.

Hops and Jones fought P4P level fighters, doesn't matter if the didn't leave the USA.

Jermain Taylor fought all comers and went out on his shield.

    Ottke was a fraud.

Joe should have built a better resume sooner. :deal

Hatton is a popualr fighter, way more popular than Calzaghe. If Calzaghe did travel to the states and fight and make a bigger name for himself while Hatton satyed at home, Hatton would probably still make more money. Calzaghe couldn't bring 10,000 fans across the atlantic with him. Hatton is a massively marketable fighter. Calzaghe isn't.

Secondly, 168 is not a glamour division despite having good quality fighters in it. It's dominated by Europeans. Kessler v Calzaghe woudn't sell out any of the big arenas in America but it'd make an absolute mint over here. So even if he travelled to the states, who's he gonna fight? Hopkins? Nah, he'd rather face Junior middles up at 175.

The time for Calzaghe having travelled to America to earn major money is long gone. He could only hope for a "legacy" fight with Hopkins, though I find that doubtful. Pavlik or Dawson would be good fights, but he's not gonna make more money for them than he will for Kessler.

True, but personally, I don't think it's the lack of p4p fighters on Calzaghe's resume that hurts his rep so much, as the amount of shite on it such as Thornberry, Manfredo, McIntyre, Salem, Ashira. Having fights like that, whilst calling yourself the best is quite dumb. Yes, IMO, he should of went to the states much like any fighter should do, but the competetion wouldn't of been vastly different.

Do you mean the WBO-champ:nut coming of recently wins aginst a hype-job, a journeyman and a tv-star?

**** Collins, **** Froch - Kessler is the real deal, you know it, Calzaghe knows it, even Calz-huggers knows it - and Joe is dead scared if you can read between the lines in his latest statements.

He could have fought better fighters at home. I agree, they didn't need to be P4P level, but a few Lucass, Catley-type fighters (perhaps while they held titles) would have done wonders.

He fought one elite fighter in Roy Jones. He lost. Nothing shameful in that.

He fought ODLH, a man who started at SF and who couldn't even convincingly beat a euro level fighter in Sturm. He shut out Trinidad, but again, that's man who started way below 160.

Then he jumped 168 altogether to fight Tarver. Are you of the opinion that Tarver is a great fighter? Do you believe Tarver was more of a threat to Hopkins than Calzaghe?

What you decide to believe is entirely up to you, but I'm just going by the reports i've heard and read. Another thing. Why, if Hopkins has fought every great fighter of his generation and isn't afraid to fight anyone, did he never rematch Jones?

Actually he sounded exactly the same in the lead up to the Lacy fight. It was in Boxing Montlhly and he was saying that if he lost the fight that he'd either retire or move to LH.

What's wrong with being afraid of a viking:D
