Calzaghe drops quit hint

Parken can't be configured to hold that many people as far as I know. It was not even possible when the eurovision song contest were held in Parken, and a song stage doesn't take up that much more space.

Edit: But let us say it was possible just for the sake of the argument. The fight would still not sell 60,000 tickets in Denmark. Boxing is simply not popular enough to draw such a big number of spectators for such a small country. Only soccer would be big enough to draw 60,000 people in Denmark and then it still had to be a very big match.

 

Didn't he try to postpone the Lacy fight in the last moment?

 

He postponed it twice beforehand. He was told if he postponed it again, that it would more or less be the end of his career.

LMAO. Pure bull****. Hopkins is big man himself and 10 times the figher that Tarver ever was. Yes Hopkins was underdog, and I myself picked Tarver to win a close ud maybe even a sd. But that was due to Hopkins age. Not to do with ability, weight or his losses to Taylor.

Yes, I am critiscising Hopkins for not rematching Jones. He had plenty of time to do it. Someone else on here said it before that BHOP was offered in the region of 6 million dollars for the fight, but turned it down to fight some loser for only half a mil. Does that sound like ducking to you?

Why wouldn't he call out Calzaghe now. At this stage Hopkins has loads to gain by winning and nothing to lose whereas Calzaghe is the complete opposite.

Looks like Calzaghe has some confidence problems, because he was obviously not hurt when he tried to postpone it the third time. This would also explain why the zero, and the feeling of invincibility that comes along with it, is so important to the guy. I think he will quit his career if he should lose against Kessler, though I hope I'm wrong. I would still love to see him beat an old Hopkins, a Taylor or a Pavlik just to shut up certain people who think everything good in the boxing world comes from the US.:yep

 

To be honest, I always felt the same about Calzaghe. That if he lost, he'd retire, which would be a shame. Even if Kessler pulls of a miracle of biblical proportions and beats Calzaghe:yep , then I still think JC has more to offer. Whether he wants a rematch with Kessler or just move to LH for a couple of fights against Dawson and Hopkins.

It also goes to show, that the longer you go undefeated, the more pressure builds up. Part of me thinks that's why Hatton is fighting Mayweather. He knows he's the MAJOR underdog, but if/when (I hope he wins) he loses, he hasn't anything to be ashamed of as he's lost to the best fighter in the world. I personally feel that it would of been better for JC to of lost early on in his career and get it out of the way. Kinda like David Haye. It probably would of cut his haters in half as most of them seem to just hate the fact that he's udefeated.

 

Many of the fighters that are considered GREAT has moved up and down trough many weight division, the place for megafights are in USA. I think any Euro fighter that want to become GREAT also knows that this means fighting in the US. Now JC has been stuck in the near vicinity of Wales and he has been stuck at 168, meanwhile we are supposed to believe that all other fighters has ducked him.

I think that JC could have done a lot more with his career than he did. Even if you would have to put in a loss or two. The fact that he has been sitting on the WBO belt for 10 years also shows a weakness - he has been too static.

 

Calzaghe is the original 'supernatural', he doesn't lose and won't. It's time to realise this everyone, it would be a good group effort to do so.
