How would Joe Calzaghe have fared in the early to mid 80's at lightheavyweight? Super middle didnt exist then and its doubtful he would have been able to fight at 160 especially considering same day weigh ins.
I think he'd be a solid top 10 fighter. His career is grossly overrated but the guy was a good fighter. Certainly wouldnt be the best though. That was the tough lightheavyweight era ever in my opinion.
:good Joe doesn't know how to lose. His biggest threat is Michael Spinks. But Joe Iron chin and workrate is too much. Calzaghe decision:deal
Oh please. You guys are ridiculous^. The guy's undefeated record is largely built on fighting nobodies, and old, wartorn fighters..... And he's supposed to beat a prime Michael Spinks whose arguably a top 10 LH of all time. A historically powerful division with actual, legit ATG's populating it. Didn't know how to lose because he didn't know how to get the big fights.
Blah, blah, blah. And you nuthuggers can't handle that the guy you rooted for with such passion fought sub par competition for basically a decade. Get a little boxing perspective, would ya? I'd say there was no blueprint because the guy had a total of about 5 meaningful fights in his career. You weren't gonna find the architect amongst the likes of Kabary Salem and Mario Veit.
Calzaghe fans never cease to amaze Dwight Qawi would give Calzaghe a brutal beating, never mind Spinks.
Calzaghe would give Qawi a Lacy-like schooling. Qawi maybe better than Lacy. Joe would simply raise his game.
Qawi gave prime LHW Spinks and cruiserweight Holyfield all they could handle for 15 rounds, yet Joe is going to give him a Lacy-like schooling, this just gets funnier and funnier:rofl
Spinks batters him, Qawi and Muhammed would be favourites too, but neither was exactly mr consistent. Other than that he probably picks up a loss or 2 but is better than everyone else around at this point. He'd definitely get a title at some point.
I guess after Joe cleans out Light Heavy he moves up to cruiserweight and "Lacy's" Holyfield and then onto Heavyweight to "Lacy" Tyson
