His "difficult" time with Jones was a 118-107 win

His difficult time with Hopkins was a better time than anyone has had with Hopkins in the past 15 years, just compare it to the time the "great" Pavlik had

Calzaghe wouldn't beat Hearns and especially Hagler even if they were to make the jump up in weight, seems to me like people are getting a little delusional now. Hagler would beat him with his aggressiveness and mixture of boxing ability and power, and Hearns would beat him with his superior boxing skills, straighter punching and size( he started at welterweight though he filled out at the higher weight divisions and had success at light heavyweight even while past his prime) Joe is a great fighter and it takes a lot to reign as long as he has, but his name shouldn't keep popping up in against ALL time greats because he isn't one( unless you are only including super middleweight). In fact Ive thought Dawson would beat Joe for a years and i still do.

    Yes he is.

Hagler was a guy who made middleweight throughout his career, most or all of it under different weigh-in rules.

Calzaghe was a guy who struggled to make 168 under different weigh-in rules, which tells you he'd most likely be fighting @ 175 if the weigh-in procedures never changed.

I think that this is the crucial point. Only Hagler would really belong in the ring with him at 168. Of course SRL is the much greater fighter but the man is a 147 fighter for god's sake.

I realise that the other two fought at much higher weights but it would be an injustice to them to compare them with JC at 168.

I agree with you in principle here (though I don't believe Hagler or Hearns are top 20 OAT), but I think peak Marvin Hagler chews Joe Calzaghe up for breakfast.

He looked small at LHW and only fought there 2 times and was too big to be a MW......

I don't rate him much at LHW and would say the likes of John Conteh would probably beat him.

Comapring him to the great MWs is pointless as he never fought there and the Ray Leonards and Durans were never at their best at 168.

haha, he maybe can beat hearns but im sure he'll be kissing the canvass

he would be KO by hagler

and he might lose his sense when he faces sugar ray...

honestly, sweet pea would easily beat him...he can give away 12 pounds and beat this guy
