I am actually a fan of Calzaghe, by no means a die hard fan... If I was I would still not try to argue that Calzaghe beat a prime, Jones, Eubank, Hopkins for that matter. As a Jones fan, it would be the same as me trying to argue that Jones beat a prime McCallum, Hill, or R.Johnson.. Which just is not the case. Oh yeah, I am a white guy by the way.
right they weren't prime but RJJ was prime when he beat all of them and JOe was close to prime when he beat Eubank
Not calling Joe prime or anything. But I do think Joe was much closer to his best than Roy when they fought. Hopkins was more past it too than Joe in my opinion. Also I think Jones' peak weight was 168 just like Calzaghe's, and the fights i mentioned were at 175, though I agree I would call Jones prime at the time.
Im a fan of Calzaghe and while i think Joe was a great fighter i dont think he achieved the greatness he could have......
Depends on the individual thats any fighters fans some are logical even mention short falls or limitations or admit losses other some nut hug also due to the amount of haters fnas have to resort to nut hugging to defend their fighter from crazies
This is true.. I have also had to stop myself from the urge to **** on a fighter I actually like to combat the extreme delusional nut hugging.:yep
When idiots make threads non-stop about Calzaghe and state the same **** over and over, can you blame people for becoming blunt, short and dismissive? There is a thread every day about Calzaghe and his legacy by people who want to knock it. Fact is, in 10 years, he'll be viewed lightyears ahead of his competition because he took the rare achievement of cleaning his division, staying undefeated, taking a title in the division above and defending a title more than 20 times. You don't get those achievements easily.
Indeed.:yep And I actually like all the fighters you mentioned, I don't really hate any professional fighter, and try not to disrespect them.
In todays world nobody does the division cleaning and long title reigns Hopkins did Before that Hagler before that Louis
I agree with you that Joe was a great accomplished fighter... But do you really think he is gonna be viewed light years ahead of Jones and Hopkins in 10 years?? I don't think so.
I'm a fan too but the fans of them can get rediculous I dont hate fighters I just hate some of the fans
