Calzaghe fans! Be honest, would Joe have won if he'd been fighting 2001-2005 B-Hop??

Hopkins was 36 in 2001, 40 in 2005. So even then, he was older than Joe was at the time of their actual fight. I still think that even at that age, Hopkins would've had enough energy and stamina to dominate and stop Calzaghe.

I think he would have. Bhop disgraced himself in that fight by fighting like John Ruiz.

Of course a younger Hopkins would win. In my opinion he beat Calzaghe at 43, but whether you though he won or not, it's obvious a younger BHop would win quite easily.

The Calzaghe/Hopkins fight was pretty close, if it was the 02-04 version of Hopkins in there, he would of had enough left in the tank to finish the job.

Yes, Joe would win, because B-Hop would also be fighting a younger Calzaghe.

You are all forgetting if Joe fought a 2003 B-Hop, B-Hop would be fighting a 2003 Calzaghe - GET IT? Joe back then was superior to what he is now.

Anyone who thinks the result would be any different are blinkered.

yeah ... i'm not a die hard Calzaghe fan but i'm not convinced that Hopkins wouldve done anything different in 2001 ... Calzaghe isn't a come forward in straight lines or has the inability to back up and pivot ... Calzaghe wouldve done a good job against Hopkins at any time .... they're not that far from age and both have been in the game for a very long time ... it was a matter of Hopkins not taking the risk and not doing what he needed to do to win.

He took that risk against Tito and Oscar because they were smaller than him and he was beating them up for the most part and could afford to do it ... but he showed against Jermain Taylor that it wasn't in him to finish guys off ...

If Joe was so sure about beating a young Hopkins I'm sure he would have got the fight made by hook or by crook.

There was no way ... they wouldve had to offer Hopkins more money than he was worth paying to make a fight.

Guys like that when they're on top they price themselves out because they don't want to take the risk ... or they see it as a fight that can benefit them prestige wise --

If Joe was top 5 p4p back in 2001 and Warren was willing to unleash him to the American public, i'm sure they couldve lured Hopkins into a fight ...

But you see what he did w/ RJJ ... he wanted 50/50 against Roy after Roy beat him ... he was hanging on the fact that he beat Tito but Roy was still basically (I don't count that Griffin DQ) undefeated and p4p #1 ... and undisputed LHW champion ...

I think it was 01/02 when Hopkins and Jones had there arguements on air during sports shows, Hopkins was winning big matches at the time and was becoming a draw, so in a way I could see Hopkins wanting 50%, who else was in Jones' way at that time? He and Hopkins both leveled the competition and all was left was him and Hopkins, I think Jones should of put his ego to the side and took the fight, there was alot of money on the table and both men had something to prove imo.

How ... He lost to Roy ... Roy is the champion at 175 and more than likely the fight wouldve taken place there for Roy's undisputed title ... only fight of note that Hopkins had was against Tito ... Roy was still p4p champion ... there's no way that Hopkins deserved to ask for 50%

People forget that Joe is 36 and also past his best. His hand trouble has taken away all of his power and now all he can rely on is speed and stamina. Hopkins fought the same way throughout his career.

lets not let pride get in the way here! b-hop displayed a good showing for his age and the truth is if he was 36 he would have beaten joe

Exactly. Calzaghe is still a very good fighter. He doesn't have to beat everyone.
