Calzaghe fans! Be honest, would Joe have won if he'd been fighting 2001-2005 B-Hop??

After Calzaghe beats Jones you can be confident his fans will tell us that he would have beaten a prime Jones. Hopkins easily beats Calzaghe five years back.

if you want to close discussion you might want to consider the real facts!!
FACT hopkins called joe out after he fought winky
FACT joe only came to america because he was contracted to by HBO as his third fight had to be in the states
FACT the hopkins fight made sense because hopkins beat tarver and winky who joe was thinking of fighting
FACT the fight was close and could have gone either way
how can you say you can be sure when joes prime is when he spent so long facing tin pot opposition

how you have to account that the joe that blasted veitit in one would smash hop for 10 then get a stoppage in 11 or 12

Yea, going by that logic, what would Denis Inklin do to prime Hopkins?

    Inklin KO of Veit

So you include the win over Lacy as prime Joe.

Following that there was a win over Manfredo... how could you judge that this wasn't prime Joe? It was over so quick, Joe dominated and a third round TKO. It was very difficult to gauge how good Joe was, as it was one sided and over almost immediately.

From your absolute prime Joe we have fights: , UD of Bika, a round 3 TKO of Manfredo (no contest)... and then the latter round domination of A grade fighter Kessler just 9 months ago. Where did you notice this sudden slide from prime?

How did the Manfredo fight indicate that Joe is "Long gone"?

The Manfredo fight didnt the Kessler fight did:good
Kesslers head was in the shithouse for about half the fight and was ripe for the picking and Joe didnt or couldnt go in for the kill for whatever sillyass reason, despite a solid victory the perfomance was subpar

That may be because Kessler is the only true quality prime oponent Joe has ever faced.

It doesnt change the fact that a seasoned veteran like Joe didnt seize the moment when he should have...........and along with your comment people somehow wonder why Joe doesnt get much credit:patsch

So your saying Joe was way past his prime when he fought Kessler (just 9 months ago). OK nearly everyone has Kessler down as an A grade or A+ opponent (perhaps still not totally proven mind!). Going by that and what Calzaghe did to him ("a Calzaghe totally out of his prime"); consequently an in his prime Calzaghe would have to be the best boxer to have ever walked the planet. That's clearly nonsense.

The simple fact is that Joe has improved his all round game as a boxer as he's got older. He's not far off his prime now, if still not in it.

No boxer, no matter how good they are, totally out there prime beats Kessler in that manner, destroys Lacy or even beats a 43 year old Hopkins. Calzaghes still in his prime of just off it.
