Calzaghe fans! Be honest, would Joe have won if he'd been fighting 2001-2005 B-Hop??

It's a load of old nonsense, this Calzaghe out of prime malarkie.

What kind of a boxer " Totally out of there prime", destroys Lacy, dominates Kessler (in the latter rounds) in a one sided afair, and beats a 43 yr old Hopkins.

The answer is no boxer; no even a Sugar Ray could do that "totally out of his prime".

nah, i doubt it. Even though calzaghe would b younger himself as well. Would b a good fight, but i still think a younger bhop would win

Not neccessarilly, because Hopkins was more of an active type fighter back then ,took more risks and that very well could have played right into Joes hands ........

Bernard got in the ring with Joe, a prime p4p fighter, when he was 43 years old. He had the balls to step in the ring with a prime Roy Jones. He got in the ring with Tarver after he'd brutalised Jones. He's getting in the ring with Pavlik next!

How is Joe a prime P4P fighter at 36 when apparently, Eubank was shot at 31, Reid was past his best at 26, Woodhall was past his best at 32.

History revionists really make me laugh.

    Did Joe **** your mother?

Very convenient how (somehow) AFTER the fight Joe becomes just as far past his prime as B-Hop.

    BS.

I'd heavily favour Hops in and around this time.

Guessing you didn't see the MANY threads saying Joe was past his prime in the Kessler fight?

Or the MANY articles written about Joe following the Salem fight, stating he had lost the handspeed that made him great.

Or the MANY opinions that made it seem like Joe was a shadow of himself in the Bika fight.

Revisionist history is your bag, mother ****er, not mine.

Joe at 36 is no where near his prime, his prime was between 1999-2003. He just wasn't utilising it.

But, if being high on the P4P list means you're in your prime, News Flash - Calzaghe was LOWER on the P4P list than Hopkins at the time of their fight.

I think this is why its hard to gauge calzaghe, because of his experience and his ability to adjust in a fight he can turn a fight with kessler around in his favour and adjust to beat hopkins. As a boxing masterclass the lacy fight was superb and not long ago so I can see why you say that its near prime time for him.

I think the problem is, calzaghe fans want a prime calzaghe to be the guy who had more power in his early career with good hands but also the experience and adapability of the latter calzaghe you mention above.

I'd quite happily take the Calzaghe that out-hustled the best Robin Reid there has been over the Calzaghe that exists today.
