Calzaghe fans! Be honest, would Joe have won if he'd been fighting 2001-2005 B-Hop??

Only people who cant score a fight think Hopkins won. He did **** all after the third.

I think it would have been worse because a younger B-Hop would have opened up more and that is exactly what JC needed.

I think Joe beats any version of Hopkins ..The one thing that I noticed in the Taylor ,Jones and Calzaghe fights is that speeds is BHops Achiles ..No matter what version fought Joe the Executioner would have been outworked ..

I'll say this; it would've been close.

Realistically, their fight in April was not close. Don't see how Hopkins won more than 3-4 rounds, and lets not forget that 2001 Calzaghe is A LOT better than this version, who is older, less precise and was fighting at a new weight for the first time.

Better yet there hasn't been an opponent that Joe has beat with the pedigree of a Hopkins ..The only prime fighter he did beat that was very good was Kessler ..

This is ******ed...I had Hopkins winning anyways and he was 43 FREAKING years old. That's old as fuk.....wait past his prime. Calzaghe was still in his prime and coming off the best victory of his career against Kessler.

Hopkins would have owned him...This isn't even a a question. It's amazing how goof of a fighter is at 43 years old, when you your reflexes do diminish.

Reflexes diminish with age, that's a fact...Hopkins only lost the fught do to his age. THAT'S A FACT!!!

It's all, what ifs, and buts with Calzaghe. It's never what he did, always what he could have done. Personally I'm not into praising a fighter with wins when he wouldn't get in the ring and win those fights himself. I credit the guys big enough to make the fights.

Fair play to joe though, he's got a lot of people convinced. Why fight a prime guy when you can beat a 43 year old version and because of that everyone believes you'd beat the prime version as well. Credit to Joe.

All I can say is that Warren has done a splendid marketing job on an awful lot of people.

    This is a little tricky...

Some people are saying "Calzaghe wasn't young either and bla bla".

No, I don't buy that. Calzaghe has gotten better over the years and the Calzaghe that beat Kessler would not have had any trouble with for example Reid like the younger Calzaghe did. Calzaghe might have been slightly faster, but he boxer a lot less intelligently when he was younger.

As such, 8 years ago - Calzaghe 28 vs Hopkins 37 - I would take Hopkins to win by outsmarting Calzaghe. Hopkins is - I think everyone agrees - at another level than someone like Reid for example.

However, prime for prime would imo. be Calzaghe 36 vs. Hopkins 36 and here I would take Calzaghe to win - and probably easier than he did. Hopkins would open up a bit more and then he would get into Calzaghe's whirlwind and Hopkins has never had the stamina to compete with that and the current Calzaghe fights very smartly. The younger Calzaghe may have been outsmarted by 36 y. Hopkins. Hell, I think 43 yo. Hopkins beats 28 yo. Calzaghe.

Calzaghe was having no problems with Reid till he broke his hand. The fact he can still pull off a win vs a world calss fighter 1 handed speaks volumes about both his skill and his determination.

Hopkins didn't think so or he would have taken the fight instead of pulling out at the last minute.

When 27 years-old Hopkins lost to Jones, he was green. When he beat Tito and DLH, he was prime. When he lost to Taylor, he was shot. When he beat Tarver and Winky, he was prime. When he lost Calzaghe, he was shot again.

Calzaghe will never be remember in the same class as the great B-Hop. Only die hard limeys think Calzaghe is greater.
