Nobody in the world has claimed RJJ is in his prime, show me one single post, just one, any one, from anybody, one single post, claiming that was a prime RJJ.

    One single post, just one.

Bull****, if you notice my response is to those that throw in insults at Roy Jones or ones that claim Jones wasn't totally shot. Find me a single post where I'm straight out insulting Calzaghe as a person and a fighter.

There were literally THREADS about that right after the fight, I'm not going to dig up pages 3,4 and 5 to show you guys if you missed them. Just make a quick search yourselves.

From threads to "Based on this fight, Calzaghe beats ANY version of JONES!" to "People now saying Jones is shot?! :-(", "As Jones is shot, Cazlaghe is as shot too!" and loads of other bull**** similar to that.

    Well said.
Too much is made of Jones fighting a couple of **** mandatories when he also met and beat some very, very good fighters as well,it's just that Jones at his best made them look fairly pedestrian.

The simple fact is that every fighter fights their share of ordinary opponents and Roy and Joe and even Bernard are no exception.Hell even an all time legend like Duran fought some absolute garbage when he was in his prime yet I don't see him cop any of the **** Jones does.

For people to say Jones met nothing but garbage men and cops is not only false it's downright disrespectful to Jones and the men who had the balls to step in the ring with the phenom that was Roy back in his pomp. For someone like Beebs to keep parroting this line shows a lack of knowlege (which having read his posts before I know isn't the case) or a blatant bias which is sad.

I don't think a class act like Joe Calzaghe would ever say **** like that about Jones or any fighter he met.

That is not saying he was prime last night, not even the most deluded hater in the world said that.

Calzaghe is past his prime, he is doing what he is doing for money, fighting other older fighters.

Joe put a beating, an absolute shut out for 11 rounds last night, that is entertaining, **** every single last thing else, thats not the question, the question is did you enjoy last night, I did, the fact that it happened to be Jones in there, made it even better.

How many times do I have to say it, I'm not saying Jones didn't fight great fighters?

I said his famous showboating was done against bad fighters, much, much worse fighters than the guy Joe was showboating last night.

People enjoyed watching RJJ showboat part timers, but get all teary eyed and purple faced when its their hero being showboated.

Good you're honest about your hate and didn't deny that Joe was in there with an ATG of this era. I'll be honest and admit I didn't enjoy the fight, it was a good fight but didn't enjoy seeing a legend who I know would totally smoke this guy in their primes get beat on and not be able to do any of the stuff he once was able to, looked unfair to me but Jones signed for it and called for it so he had to deal with it and he dealt with it as a true legend. However, you know what I'm going to watch?, there I'll be generous enough to share it with you too.

Some people are claiming that Calzaghe could beat RJJ prime for prime - that in itself is a subject that should be able to be debated sensibly, but unfortunately the usual suspects answer any such suggestions with the likes of "Bull****!! STFU!!! Prime Roy KTFO of Calslappy"

Others are saying that RJJ isn't as shot as the many Calzaghe-detractors are making out, and I agree with them. If we were to believe what all the revisionists have had to say since Calzaghe beat Jones, we would be thinking that RJJ was pushed to the ring in a wheelchair and held up against his will against the ropes while Calzaghe whaled away on him.

Not so. Jones showed glimpses of his ability, but Calzaghe outworked him.

What you're seeing is a backlash from the Calzaghe fans who are sick to death of all the usual suspects detracting from Calzaghe's wins over Hopkins and Jones by saying the former just has to turn up and decide to fight and will be able to KO Joe in a rematch, and the latter is shot to pieces.

At least if you hate someone you should know a thing or two about them, Jones showboated in almost ALL of his fights and I mentioned a LIST of fighters for you that he showboated against, all this he "showboated against garbage men" is coming out of your ass. That's unless you consider the fighters I mentioned as garbage men, which I won't be surprised about at all.

Hate? What hate? I just said I enjoyed it because of people like you, who get all teary eyed because their super hero got obliterated.

It was a boxing master piece, it was fun to watch that, and having the other guy being RJJ just made it better, simply because of people like you.

Jones has been shot since 2003 and this is coming from a huge Jones fan, even Calzaghe admitted to it in the video I posted above. Whoever thinks he wasn't as shot as many believe he was are delusional, Jones NEVER EVER fought the way he did in his prime and he fought Calzaghe the same way he fought Tarver, Trinidad, Ajamu and Hamshaw. So any bull**** about the eliteness Calzaghe showed forcing him to fight that way is simply bull****, Jones never fought going to the ropes that way in his prime, he always kept it in the middle of the ring, throwing punches in odd angles, lightnening fast combinations and nonstop movement from one side to another keeping his opponent confused. Throwing one predictable right hand at a time was never his style of fighting till he was shot and it only gets worse since 2003.

Oh for gods sake, take your hero worship elsewhere.

The stuff you see on the highlight reels, the really over the top stuff, was against less than average fighters, why you can't admit that, I don't know, maybe you have some sort of emotional attachment to the man, I don't know or care.

The point Beebs is making is that everyone is up in arms at Calzaghe's showboating against RJJ, yet RJJ himself was guilty of showboating against much lesser fighters than the version of himself that Calzaghe just fought, and yet that is fine by you guys.

    EG:

    RJJ showboated against Glen Kelly

    Calzaghe showboated against today's RJJ

    Today's RJJ >>>>> Glen Kelly

Anyone would think Calzaghe had just crucified the second coming of Jesus from the way everyone is carrying on about his showboating.
