i dont think super joe needs dawson or woods to be honest, a hopkins victory will send him into greatness easily, easily the best super middleweight and in my opion on of the best fighters britain has ever had and the world has ever seen. outstanding boxer, no matter what people say the guy is a legend

Right on. Some will argue, but Joe is the most skilled fighter on planet Earth, in my opinion.

The Hopkins win means very little.

The Dawson win would mean a lot.

A Woods win is an extra solid opponent on there.

Personally speaking, Dawson looks like the biggest challange. I would take Woods out for Jones, a easy payday. In Cardiff, beats Jones very tastily, Monster paycheck, Victory parade.

It's not a matter of needing him, it's a matter of proving that you're the best.

woods would be 10X the win that RJJ is at this point.

woods is a title holder with legit LHW wins over the past few years such as roy's husband glencoffe and julio cesar gonzalez and now has a tarver fight set up for april. RJJ has been busy getting KTFO, fighting bums and celebrating a win over a blown up welter who hasn't fought in over 2 years.

Up there. It would be a reasonable claim for sure. Depends on how strict you are regarding generations and how they overlap. If Floyd doesn't lose he'll be remembered as the better fighter regardless.

But these are the three fights that I would like to see Calzaghe take, personallly. I think all three of these wins are special for different reasons. It would certainly put him over the top as far as greatness is concerened.

I would be very impresed but in my opinion Mayweather would still be better than him.

I think Mayweather is a more talented boxer and i also think he has faced and beat better opoents even if we add in Hopkins, Dawson and Woods for Calzaghe.

Calzaghe should fight these, if he beats Bhop, which i think he will:

Roy Jones Jr. Will look very good on his record.
Winner of Tarver/Woods. He could beat both, and noone could then say he only beat two old men.
Kelly Pavlik?. That would be tough, but i think Calzaghe would be too tricky.

    That'd make his resume impressive;

    Chris Eubank
    Charles Brewer
    Jeff Lacy
    Mikkel Kessler
    Bernard Hopkins
    Roy Jones Jr.
    Clinton Woods/Tarver
    Kelly Pavlik

If he does that; can anyone say he is not a legend?

A win over Hopkins would mean a lot to the 'casual' fan but a lot of boxing geeks realise BH is not what he was.
Judging by his last fight against Winky I'd say he's shot and should retire. However I also said something similar when Calzaghe struggled against Bika so what the hell do I know!:D
I'm asuming JC will win a fairly clear ud as he's too fast for Hopkins and the pace he sets will be a bit too hot. What I'm really interested in is who's next. I think he wants Pavlik or Woods which are fine but I suspect Dawson will be avoided like the plague.
All this atg stuff is great fun but it can be a bit misleading as it factors in fame a bit too much. How many names do you have on your record etc. Ability shown in the ring often seems to get a bit overlooked imo.
If you lean too heavily on resume there's always some bugger who can tear any fighter to shreds.

Oh and I can't believe some people are throwing Roy Jones around as a potential opponent. That would be a farce and a disgrace and would severly lower my estimation of Calzaghe if he took that fight. How can people be so delusional as believe that it would be anything but a humiliation of a once great fighter. Do these people even understand boxing?

he doesnt need to prove this any more tho, he is the best, kessler was his defining fight, and he proved to the world he deserves to be in the best 3 fighters in the world
