Going on acomplishments I think that Bob Fitzsimmons winning titles at middleweight, heavyweight and light heavyweight is the greates British fighter of all time. Even if he did live much of his life in NewZeland.
Wilde is difficult to asess because his opponents records are incomplete as are his opponents opponents records. He did however beat a consensus top 10 all time Bantemweight in Joe Lynch. No mean feat for a flyweight. All in all it is fair to say that Wales has produced its share of great fighter for its size with Wilde, Driscoll and now Calzaghe.
Lennox Lewis and Joe Calzaghe are the best British fighters in recent memory. Hard to separate them. I've heard Lewis wax lyrical about Calzaghe as a boxing analyst on HBO. Calzaghe used to say that Lewis was 'long in the tooth' but that was probably just jealousy. Both great fighters and a credit to British boxing. I, for one, have no interest in placing one above the other. They are both all time greats.
Lewis and Hatton are above Calzaghe. Calzaghe has now beaten Lacy and Kessler which is a good start but he has wasted too much time.
Yeah Lewis but Hatton? Hatton's biggest achievements are over Tszyu and Castillo picked at the right time.:blood
