Frank will make 10% of Calzaghe's purse and forgive me - but the joker is not gonna earn two million+ out of this !!!

    Calzaghe is a **** house and i agree with Flint 10,000 %

I think Warren saw the writing on the wall when he made Joe that offer, why make the offer and split your profits? That does Calzaghe bring to the table for Warren as a co-promoter? JC isn't a businessman, isn't charismatic, doesn't seem particulary intelligent etc, I think it was just a ploy to keep Calzaghe onside for his last few fights. Warren would have edged him out of the deal as soon as Calzaghe wasn't fighting anymore IMHO.

Maybe I'm just a cynical bugger though....;)

I think the cynics are merely using this as another stick to beat Calzaghe with.

Joe has been frustrated by Frank Warren before, but stuck by him out of LOYALTY. Frank will no doubt accuse Joe of greed (as he did with Hatton) but Joe has made 20 odd consecutive defences of a title, and you can only think what Frank made from those.

Perhaps Joe knew this and realised he wanted a bigger share of the cake for himself?? American's don't understand that it is a master/servant relationship over here, as opposed to a player/agent type in the US - fighters are supposed to do as they are told and are paid a set amount (generally) with Warren (or whoever) getting the TV money etc whereas the likes of Cotto, Pacman etc are paid a guaranteed amount, with extras based upon the live gate, and PPV sales - whilst Arum (or King/GBP/Gary Shaw) takes a cut, in proportion to the amount of money generated.

    :good

Also (to the OP not to TFFP) consider the $$ that Joe has missed out by fighting those very same fighters that you say padded his record, rather than the big fights he's been asking for over the last ten years!

Yup, I was getting so angry reading the list of posts on this, then saw your one at the bottom which made me see a bit of perspective. I'll leave this thread now to run its natural course.

Yeah I'd love for someone to give me a quick million to

But when you got millions already is it worth burning bridges just to make a few more million that you will probaly not ever get down to spending anyway

I remember seeing an interview with Mayweather when they asked him a similar question. It was around the DLH rematch (which obviously never happened), but they asked whether he thought his intentions were honourable by basically taking a payday which nobody wanted to see. He said something along the lines of... well my kids are sorted, and probably their kids are sorted, by taking this fight, I'm making sure that my kids' kids' kids are sorted.

Cant really argue to be honest.

    thats the thing

I didnt hate Calzaghe I supported him throughout his career

he one of Wales best fighters

But now I just think he is trying to con everyone with his last fight

going on Jonathan Ross and saying he is fighting a boxing legend just to fill his boots

there is one way I feel Calzaghe can redeem himself

fight Kelly Pavlik - Win Lose or Draw - then I will have renewed faith in Calzaghe

but right now I just think he is a money fighter - thats his only motivation for fighting on now and while it may be good for his bank balance dosent mean I have to like it that he is ducking Pavlik

and fighting a fighter now a few years past his best

Calzaghe would have fought Hopkins and Jones years and years too late and still have them names on his record with a W.

What bridges has he burnt? After he stops fighting he doesn't need Warren and Warren doesn't need him.
