Calzaghe is the one training a few hours a day for weeks on end, with the end reward of getting your head mashed in.

Bearing in mind the risk that the fighters take, I feel that they should take as bigger slice of the cake as is feasible. Promoters do a tough job and make investment in a fighter, but certainly get a better return than you or me do from our ISA's or Regularsaver's!

The fighter is the one putting his life on the line, and is therefore entitled to make as much money as they can.

Why people are beating Joe and Roy over this one I have no idea - it is not as if the fans are being ripped off (no more than usual).

I refuse to ever invest in Sky High Football Tickets and pay any money into football

the working class fans all get ripped off with high ticket prices and £10 for a hotdog just so they can pay the footballers sky high wages so they can be better off than them

**** that - why should they have a slice of my money so they can all be way better off than me

most celebritys and stuff are scum - money minded - greedy ****s

mugs invest their money to make them even richer

the biggest rip off is the taxes we pay the goverment

so these few elite including Jack Presscot and the Royal Family and Gordon Brown can spend it on

Below is a MP's monthly allowance on the Tax Payers money

*£500 allownace on shopping a month
    *A new house
    *£10,000 kicthen
    *free meals in top resturants
    *taxis and limos and flights
*holidays / visits abroad on the taxpayer

Tony Blair sent £200 per week Soldiers out to die in Iraq

and now Blair is on a retirement tour in the USA making speechs and set to earn up to £12,000,000

Jesus man. There's people who can listen to this kind of stuff and help you. On here though, we're just gonna continue to take the proverbial out of you!

If someone manages to do well for themselves and make loads of cash, be it by boxing or whatever, then fair play. They are at risk of being KO'd so go ahead, earn your money. If you dont like it fine, do as you have done and dont buy the PPV. Dont be crying just because other people earn more than you do. You'll be crying all day every day if you start down that road. Learn to live with it and let the 'scum' earn their money. If you dont want to line their pockets, then dont. But I'll tell you this for nothing - I'll be buying Calzaghe v Jones on PPV and so will most of the UK and that's without getting started on the US market. And I will have a good night in with a few tins and snacks and me and the boys will make a good night of it.

Which is a whole lot cheaper than a night on the town...

Can I just say that it's called PRO boxing because they get paid, that's the whole point of turning pro in the first place ;)

Pay £15 measly quid, get a crate of Carling and a Chinese takeaway and have good night at the fights!!

Wherever you spend your money it'll be lining some "****s" pockets.

I lied - I will buy the Jones Jnr fight

But I rarely invest in any of these rip offs these days

I never buy Hatton fights no more

And no money will be spent on Football - cos I dont care about it anyway

Thats the thing you will be always lining some ****S pockets

But some just take the ****

I mean the last Hatton fight was nothing special and they charged £14.95 just for the privelege to watch it

very true, but I doubt Warren made a decent deal, as Joe will have financial advisors and I'd guess that part of the decission was made for him. Dunno, it's dificult in boxing, so much happens behind the scenes that its a sport that literally shocks you... anything can happen.

My view is that Warren talked up the offer on TV, made Joe a less attractive one so he could milk more money from his name sakes and was told to do one. I've always had the impression that Joe cant stand Warren, cant remember which fight it was but he kept cutting him off mid sentense until Warren faded into the background...

    Totally agree Gaz

Go out for a few pots before coming home to watch the boxing - if there is five or six of you it is only a couple of quid each. The difference between a standard pizza and a deep pan

Not much if you ask me.......

Flint is just using this thread to vent his frustrations. He seems a bitter, bitter man.

Let's not get this twisted: with very few exceptions most people and therefore fighters too want to maximise their earnings. To call this greedy is rather naive when you consider that we all live and breathe in a system that promotes maximising your gains at all costs!!

It would have been better to name this post "Calzaghe..... disloyal like others before him..."

Having said this Warren parted ways with a number of fighters over the years for one reason or another so there could be something distasteful about him....

Well I have just read this week's Frankly Speaking, and there is no mention of a split with Calzaghe.

    Roll on next week's offering.........

I may be wrong but Frank Warren didn't seem to give a **** who Joe was until Hatton had decided not to resign. He was happy to let Joe go fight Veit in Germany for a pointless 2nd time and not bother getting that fight aired on British TV until 3-4 months later when it was shown on Eurosport. Then Ricky leaves and good ole frank gets Joe the Lacy fight, suddenly Joe is the best boxer Frank has ever worked with.
To sum it all up, Frank can go get ****ed.
