In the HBO post fight interview Joe is heard thanking Elvis for the new gloves and wrappings stating that they did a great job in protecting his hands from any damage/breakage.
The Lonsdale Gloves must of descended from Hercules himself like the Spartans. They probably strengthened his hands.
TBH, there was a second in one of the early-to-mid rounds where it looked like he'd hurt his right hand - he seemed to shake it a bit after a punch, but then he carried on just as strong, so obviously no probs.
like hotti killer said these new elvis grant designed gloves are meant to be heaven sent to boxers with fragile hands. they tend to be larger/have more padding and are designed more to protect the fighters hands than say reyes gloves which have the reputation of punchers gloves.

calzgahe most probably has a advertising contract with lonsdale. but i saw the american version of the fight and at the end of calzaghe`s interview with max kellermen calzaghe said words to the effect of "thank you elvis , the gloves were beautifull , my hands are perfect, brilliant" to whcih emmanual stewart replied to the camera " calzaghe is not reffering to elvis presley but elvis grant a reknowed boxing product manufacturer for his new style of boxing gloves" this is not word for word , but it was to this effect.
