I disagree. It's like saying Tarver has a better legacy than Jones too. Calzaghe beat a faded Jones. I take no credit away for Calzaghe's performance but he doesn't have a better legacy
Calzaghe is a great fighter, and underrated in America....but to say his legacy is greater than RJJ is a bit silly. Calzaghe has had the good fortune of having beaten the best fighters he's faced when they were past there primes. Yeah, he is still undefeated, but I still don't think his legacy compares with Roy's when you factor in Roy's Olympic dominance (robbed of Gold) and his almost decade long supremacy as the P4P king. Calzaghe's two fights at 175 were against old guys for the Ring Magazine belt. Dawson is the man to beat at 175. My point is, Calzaghe is arguably the greatest SMW of all time, but Roy dominated 160, 168 and 175. Plus he won a belt at Heavyweight. Sure, Ruiz wasn't that great, but if it was so easy to do what Roy accomplished, why hasn't anyone else done it? I guess Toney did, but the Heavyweight title has alluded him because of his steroid use.
Bob Fitzsimmons did it, and at a time when titles weren't so diluted, but I completely agree with you otherwise.
How many prime future hall of famers did Joe beat? If you produce any then you can start comparing the two
not better, different. no sense in comparing 'legacies' as they we re on two different paths to greatness.
