How dare you sir?!! Joe C. is a supernatural being and a God amongst men. He does no one thing wrong, and is by far the most talented fighter to have ever laced up gloves.

Haven't you read the threads around here?

Watch the Lacy fight replay again, his footwork was MASTERFUL. Lacy missed with pretty much every big shot he threw.

I can't wait to top this thread when hopkins shows how truly sub-par Joe's competition to this point has been. Of course he looked good against lacy and Kessler, who are both extremely orthodox and "come straight at you" fighters. Hopkins will not employ the same strategy, and will likely be fighting off the back foot. I maintain what I said earlier, joe doesn't have great defense when coming forward.. he doesn't keep his hands up high enough when throwing those shots, and a good counterpuncher will expose that. If Byron mitchell can do it, imagine what a true a-class fighter will do.

Thats stupid.. Just because you have more posts doesn't mean that you're a genius..

Anyway: Ofcourse Calzaghe has great defence, he has fought fighters who can punch, that are extremely accurate and has fast hands - they had trouble hitting him clean more than once here and there. Hopkins stands no chance.. In his prime it would've been close, with an edge for Calzaghe. Today: No doubt that Calzaghe will win this.

But Byron Mitchell didn't do ****, he got his ass knocked out in round 2 and was thrown around like a ragdoll

That sure adds real weight to your argument Einstein

I think what the thread originator is trying to say is that the way Calzaghe jumps in and out of spots and throws from different angles, he is suspectible to good counter punching. And Hopkins is one of the best counter punchers in the game. It will be interesting to see. It's going to be a chess match.

Someone must have digitally manipulated the video to add a knockdown, I guess.

exactly... Hopkins isn't lacy, he isn't kessler, and he sure as hell isn't Byron Mitchell.

Big ****ing deal, he wasn't hurt

Joe is a warrior, he comes and fights. Try throwing 1000 punches, and never being open to a shot or off balance yourself. It doesn't make a damn bit of difference, because Joe will dominate this guy so badly, the sporadic counters will seem like mere flukes

Joe will do what he always does, and raise his game against the best opponents

I think you just proved my point. No one is questioning joe's warrior status, or workrate, or heart. I'm questioning his Defensive skills.

    Which are fine

In his biggest fights he hasn't been knocked down, if anything it's been when he's got sloppy against inferior guys

It's natural you are more open when you throw so many punches, its not suggestive of a leaky defence from where I'm sitting. If Joe felt inclined to box like Hopkins, he could jab away all night and very rarely get it

But he wouldn't, because it's tedious as ****
