    (Tactical Discussion)

If Calzaghe attempts to "show his boxing skill and talent" in this fight as he has promised; will he be playing into the hands of Roy Jones, or does Joe have the raw ability and bag of tricks to win that type of contest? Can he outslick, outmaneuver, outscore, dazzle, and outspeed Jones at this stage, or must Calzaghe fight a different type of fight - and if so; what should be Calzaghe's method of attack?

Jones has nothing left! Calzaghe will use his usual high output attack & speed & decision Roy. Roy wont risk getting kayoed!:blurp

So you don't believe Calzaghe intends to (or should) make his punches count and put on an exhibition of raw skill?

he needs to make jones keep his arms up and throw blistering combos from all angles. eventually he will catch and hurt jones and end it.

one has to remember that jones has suffered two one-punch kos, the latter at first seemed fatal. its tough to really comeback from that kind of brain trauma. jones has really not beaten anyone of note the past three fights and is taking a huge step up in fighting calzaghe.

for jones to win he needs to counter effectively and completely. if he can hurt calzaghe he has a chance, but calzaghes chin and stamina re two of his three greatest attributes, the last being his handspeed, which even the craft hopkins could not counter.

So you're saying Calzaghe needs to stick within his traditional framework more, and not try and get too fancy? Do you believe it would be risky for Calzaghe to try and go toe to toe in a tactical shootout with Jones?

If Calzaghe wants a certain victory, he needs to use his superior workrate and stamina, but carefully. If Calzaghe wants to shut the mouths of the naysayers, he needs to put on a clinic and overwhelm Jones.

Do you believe that's something he's capable of?

What do you think he's going to do, go in there for a brawl?

He'll do what he always does. Try to establish a jab, come forward and let the combinations go. It takes skill to do that.

he'll adapt as necessary as usual. A brawl favors calzaghe as he has much much faster combos than roy. jones might throw a fast punch or two, but calzghe can toss 7-8 fast ones that land. that'll be the difference.

As I said as soon as this fight was announced, my prediction is Joe Calzaghe to just beat Roy Jones at absolutely everything they attempt in the ring be it out-slicking each other or beating each other to the punch etc, Joe Calzaghe is in his prime, RJJ is a good 6 or 7 years past his prime, RJJ destroyed his body by trying to do the undo-able by shedding of close to 35pounds of pure muscle within just a few months and then regularly fighting after that, ofcourse he was gonna taste the after-effects and he has and he is nothing like the roy of old, IMO RJJ of 98 vs RJJ of 08 = RJJ 98 KO5 after completely out-classing him

Calzaghe will win this fight with one thing and one thing only workrate he doesn't need to do any of the things you mentioned.

A brawl? Do you not understand the question? Joe has said he wasn't happy with what he showed against Hopkins (constantly). He said that he's going to "show his boxing skill and talent in this fight" against Roy Jones. What do you make of that? Do you consider that wise? Do you think Joe has the ability to win in a stylish, flashy type of performance?
