It's a farce we insist on handing this to someone who finished as a runner up (No offence to the lad as he did well) instead of giving it to a true champ and warrior like Joe Calzaghe.

The ITV media bandwagon rides again

If Hatton beats Mayweather he should definitely win it otherwise it should be Hamilton. Hamilton will probably get most votes whatever happens.

Nevermind that hamiltons been in the spot light for oh about 3 mins , its a crying shame. The problem is everything in england is dictated by the press, hamiltons had more press coverage because its been so long since weve had a decent f1 driver therefore he gets the awards, annoys me quite a bit really , nothing against hamilton but hes only been here 5 mins maybe if hes still here in a decade like jc has been then we should think about it .

the award is not a measure of sporting achievement. That's why Hamilton (who ****ed it up for himself in the last race lets remember) is nailed on) and Calzaghe only has a small chance. Real sports fans can't take the show seriously. And the voting is irrelevant.

Triple world champion cyclist Victoria Pendleton should get this award, but didn't even get a mention.

I've never heard of her, and thats the problem. There are some great sports people in the minority sports, but you never hear of them.

I'm sure she deserves a shot at the title, but no one will vote for someone they haven't heard of. Lewis Hamilton has been around 5 minutes, but everyone has heard of him, and a lot of people will vote for him.

Its a shame its like this in this country, but thats how it is.

If Calzaghe is on the shortlist, shouldn't Haye be on there too? He's done more than Calzaghe this year.

This award is so unfair. Hatton should have won it in 2005 but didn't.

Haye should possibly be on there.

But boxing is alow quality sport, wih everyone being split up in weight division and all. In that regard Haye isn't near the best in the world.

It's not about being the best in the world - it's about what you've achieved in the year.

Haye beat an old Mormeck, who didn't look particulary impressive.

Calzaghe outclassed a young prime unified champ, who gave a good account of himself.

No, the award is Sports Personality of the year; sadly that does mean Hamilton as he had undoubtly been the Sports Personality of the year, unless Hatton gets by Mayweather.
