He lost his IBF belt because he didn't fulfill his mandatory.

Bhop could have won so many more fans if he had played up the nationlistic aspect of his bout instead of tired old monotonous race card. Instead of saying he will never lose to a white guy why instead say: I'm a proud american who will never lose to one of these euros? English fans have always been behind their guys like Lennox, Naseem, Haye, etc. Those fellas never invoked race into the equation. They were Brits fighting for their country and fans. Race was never an issue with them. Why does this Calzaghe fight have to follow along those same, tired lines when america is now receiving stiff competition from overseas in a sport we have historically dominated? Play up the nationalistic, jingoistic angle and Bhop would have had the stands filled with red, white and blue chanting for him and the USA. Not throwing down Trinidad's flag or telling Calzaghe he won't lose to a white guy. The euros already resent americans and now we need to shitcan the race rhetoric and live in today's world. A world where americans are hated and resented regardless of race. I wish Hopkins had stymied that outburst. He is a smart fighter and businessman. He could have created a nationalistic fervor for this bout.
