I predict the same kind of outcome. The awkward, "loosy goosy" fighter gets exposed by the Great.

    Hopkins TKO 9

I think most people would agree that Hamed was just a one hit wonder.
I think Calzaghe is alot better than Hamed was.
Should be a close fight though with Calzaghe edging out the win

Hamed was a great fighter but Joe is completely different. Joe has great fundamentals and a great boxing brain to fall back on. Hamed had gotten so far away from boxing basics that he couldn't find a plan B once he was being outboxed.

    wow.

on one hand you had a man who's ego had overtaken him, had sacked his mentor and trainer brendan ingle who made him what he was and who didn't think he needed to train as seriously as he once did. he had fallen in love with his power and thought he could take anyone out with one shot, no questions asked.

he was up against a prime MAB with a point to prove.

calzaghe on the other hand has wanted hopkins for years and years, even more so after old man rivers ***** antics in 2002. he's desparate for his american debut and you can guarantee he will be training his bollocks off for this one, he has a point to prove stateside. calzaghe is a multi dimensional fighter who throws endless streams of punches.

....and he's going in against an old man way past his best.

Against a prime Hopkins I'd agree but the thing that makes Calzaghe a slight favourite is Hopkins's advanced age. I still wouldn't put it past him to put on a Barrera-Naz style poerformance

By the way I do tend to believe that Hamed was a fine fighter at his weight. Bags of ability, chilling level of power and a very awkward unorthodox style. What proved to be his shortcoming and downfall was his contempt for opponents, lack of dedication and application at times and a tendancy to clown around far too often. His ego was the size of Everest and he got exposed because of it (I always think Barerra would beat him, though).

Calzaghe seems to always trains very accordingly for every fight and takes nothing for granted, just does his job in the ring very professionally and emphatically.

Yeah...if Hamed had trained properly for Barrera, realising exactly what he was up against and how the Mexican would fight the fight, he would have won.
