In an official statment Joe Calzaghe said that he's getting a dog on April 19.

He also said that on April 19, he's gonna muzzle that St. Bernard and train him to obey all my commands. Every time I tell him to lay down, he's going to lay down. I guarantee you that dog will be leaving the ring with his tail between his legs. I'm going to prove, once and for all, Bernard Hopkins is all bark and no bite!

    :rofl :rofl :rofl

So what do you think... will Joe make Bernard his dog?

Depends if JC will give his full potential on this bout, We can't deny any boxers going inside the ring without new improved arsenals. Hopkins will also do what he does best. As I like both of these fighters, I'll choose that it can go either way having JC on a slight edge.

I got this fight a 60/40 for Calzaghe, I got a few questions I been pondering on, Hopkins has a great lead right, if he sees Calzaghe trying to flury on him, he will catch him, but will it be enough to turn the fight around? Calzaghe will be fighting to a pro Hopkins crowd, how will this effect him, or will it even effect him? Also, Hopkins is a good rough house fighter, can this change Calzaghe's game plan, and will it decrease Calzaghe's out put?

Too be honest, those who say it will be an easy win for Calzaghe, might be surprised by what they see next month, Hopkins aint being stopped even if he is getting beat, he will at least foul out and safe face, he's to proud quit IMO. I cant wait to see this fight, Hopkins is going to be Calzaghe's toughest test to date.

Its gonna be a ugly fight and though I think Cal will win please dont be surprised if Bhop does Cal in something nasty. I remember watching Cal fight a rough house fight against Bika and it wasnt pretty. Bhop is Bika times 10. I wont be surprised if Bhop pummels him in 8.

Calzaghe would have to do a whole lot more than just punch to make St. Bernard obey his "commands". He would have to outclass him, make him never leave his stool, make him look like a fool and I have never seen any fighter do such a thing to him... Calzaghe is not the man to do it. The Welshman has a lot of natural skills, he can outjab you on the back foot, he can switch from body to head with good handspeed, mix it up in close and unleash whirlwind attacks... One thing he can't do is to make his opponent fight his own fight. Frank Warren is saying that Bernard should come forward to prove himself a legend and we all know that Ali didn't come forward against Foreman in Zaire, and Warren is not gonna impress Hopkins with that sort of comments. There is just one thing that Joe can do to make Bernard come on and that is to win rounds until halfway, but I don't see Joe controlling everything even from that point on... Bernard did a lot of barking early but now Calzaghe says he is gonna win every single round - that has to put some additional pressure on him, not on Hopkins.

That's the funniest comment of Joe in this fight yet... I look forward to St. Bernard's answer. :D

calzaghe has been talking a lot of trash lately... but i guess it's more of just adding hype to this fight. but it could backfire on him though. hops may push himself to one final extraordinary performance kinda like what nate campbell did to juan diaz. i'm definitely not counting him out of this fight.

Does anyone actually believe these words have come from Calzaghe? He probably hasn't even seen them. This is all Warren's doing, ticket sales must be slow.

You got a point there. Eubanks did say after his fight that Calzaghe was easy to hit with the right hand lead.

I doubt it will be a pro Hopkins crowd. In fact, it could easily be the reverse situation.

Calzaghe used to be a sucker for a lead right, he's improved but like most southpaws, is definately more open to them than an orthodox boxer.

I'm not claiming Hopkins will win, but we also must remember, Hopkins is still a tough fighter and still maybe the best ring general out there today. The questions I proposed should be real concerns for Calzaghe, and for people to think Calzaghe is going to walk through Hopkins, amazes me, not even Jones in his prime was able to do that, I just see this fight being tough for both men to win, and I cant wait to see it.

The Eubank fight was 10 years ago... and the best Calzaghe I've ever seen was in November against Kessler... at 35, he can still learn and adapt to new situations...
