Now that IS hugely biased. Taylor had a decent reign at MW: two wins (and he did win) over Hopkins and a draw with Wright are the highlights obviously. However, if size isn't an issue at all, then Spinks also enhances it. He also has Jeff Lacy on his record too.

Taylor is a very good fighter and was long regarded the heir apparent at MW. That he succeeded Hopkins is a HUGE achievement and the minute he beat Hopkins the 1st time, he was elevated in terms of his scalps signficance to B-Hop. Hopkins failed to beat him again and he has actually never avenged any of his losses.

You seriously can't sit there and say that Taylor was one of the top 3 opponents Hopkins has faced in his career with a straight face.

i don't think you are at all biased to suggest that hopkins' most celebrated wins have all been against fighters operating outside their best weight division. whenever he fought a top fighter at their true weight he lost.

Yes I can and yes I will.

And so it proved when he beat him twice. The minute Taylor beat Hopkins, he became one of Hopkins greatest challenges....which he failed to conquer.

Taylor at MW is superior to Trinidad, De La Hoya, Winky at 170. The only ones that are arguable are Tarver or Pavlik and in my opinion, he is a better overall fighter than either.

However, time will tell on this one more than anything. We will see how Pavlik does from here and how Taylor gets on at his new weight...I expect both of them will surpass the achievements of milk dud though.

that win was not huge at all, infact it meant nothing. have you looked at johnson's record going into that bout? his opponents make some of joe's look like killers. johnson done nothing but square off against 32 tomato cans before facing bernard, if i'm much mistaken it was also his first ever 12 round bout. that says it all.

glen then went onto to get beaten by over half the 168lb fighters he faced before cashing in against RJJ.

jermaine taylor was a vastly superior opponent compared to the version of glencoffe he faced.

He did beat Tarver, we have to remember that. That was a good win, but in my opinion Tarver isn't quite as good as the Americans would have us believe. The win has depreciated a bit since as well with his schooling versus Dawson.

But in essence yes, I do feel that the fact that many of his major wins have came against guys operating outwith their natural weight class hurts him somewhat, as the likes of Hoya and WW for instance, have never really proven themselves at those weights. Hoya lost to Sturm and WW looked soft for goodness sake, he clearly didn't carry the weight well.

I think that people rate the Johnson victory more on what has happened since: Johnson has been a formidable foe to everyone and has since won World Titles at LHW...the win has appreciated despite the amount of losses that Glen has incurred (mainly because many are controversial).

I rate it particularly because of the fashion in which Hopkins beat him, no one was able to do that before or since.

It's a good win, but I agree that the hugely underrated Taylor was a better opponent than the version of Johnson that Hopkins faced.
