Ok lets put this another way...I have seen referees deduct points for a lot less (as you put it ) DISTRACTIONS. and as for faking low blows its hardley sportmanship when your trying to get your opponent deducted points or even DQ. surley you cant condone any boxer who uses there head and fakes low blows. To me hopkins is far to good a fighter to use those tricks and you have to ask yourself why he did. personley i think he knew calzaghe was going to be a handfull thats why he tried everything in the book legal or not to try and stop calzaghe from winning.
Condone? If you really want to get into an issue like this let's talk about strategic low blows that lead to brutal knockouts and the evetual destruction of a fighter's career. There have been well documented instances of that sort of stuff. I'd feel pretty ignorant talking about the parlor tricks of Bernard Hopkins compared to that kind of horror. If you're really concerned about cheating and that type of **** Bernard Hopkins should be one of the last guys on your list.
**** no ,hopkins was beat end of ,there are other fighters who deserve a shot,**** boring rematches.
Roy has a great shot at beating Calzaghe. I am stunned a lot of people aint giving him a shot. I think even a shot Roy Jones can still beat Calzaghe.
Clearly your missing my point and if you think that by using your head, elbows and faking low blows is ok for a world championship fight watched by millions is ok then im seriously wasting my time on having a normal conversation with you.
No one aside from maybe the hardcore boxing crowd wants to see that rematch, its not like it was an exciting fight to begin with.
Dumbest comment I ever read. Fighting a 6 years passed his prime Roy Jones don't prove sh*t. I don't even know if Joe can beat that version of Jones, let alone the pre-heavyweight Roy. Jones Jr is not even ranked in any P4P list ! Pavlik, at least, was. Plus, the Hopkins fight was pretty damn close, I gave it to Joe by 1 point but that kind of fight should lead to an immediate rematch to settle things up.
if that's an issue then take it to manchester or london. joe's three biggest fights on UK soil were against lacy, eubank and kessler, go check out the nationalities of the refs for those bouts genius.
i'm a boxing fan not a calzaghe fan . and a shot roy jones doesnt have a hope of beating him no. thats what you said " i think even a shot roy jones might beat calzaghe ". its a ridiculous thing to say and shows you up. i'm doing you a favour pointing it out. obviously if he isnt shot he has a good chance.
Your gonna be in for a big surprise come fight night. :hey Jones still has the goods to beat Joe. WAR JONES! :bbb
Look, Calzaghe has an exciting flashy and busy style, watch more fights of him is you don't think that way. Hopkins is all about killing fights if he's not fighting guys as easily hittable as Tito or Pavlik. Calzaghe doesn't want to participate in another borefest, especially after MOST think he won fair and square. Calzaghe never gets credit... there's always something about the opponent, but never about his skills (adapting, taking away weapons) or abilities (superior stamina and punch output). They are overrated (Lacy), robotic (Kessler), old (Hopkins) etc. etc. -If he takes the rematch and wins another close one, hell, he's exposed again, a 44 year-old man had his ass etc. -If he wins by a wider margin, age finally caught up with Hopkins, who would've KILLED Joe in his prime. No one really cares that at 37, Joe is past his prime as well...
