Anybody who says Hopkins won his fight against Calzaghe loses all crediblity as far as I'm concerned. I went into that fight as a neutral, and Hopkins didn't give himself a chance of getting the decision because he didn't do anything.

That IS why he got caught and put on his ass. It's also why he won. Calzaghe is almost permeneantly off balance. The pay off is that he doesn't have to "set himself". When Hopkins feints, even with foot, he normally buys himself a split second - especially against a fighter like Pavlik who fights from a pretty traditional stance and needs to get "re-set". But against Calzaghe, Hopkins didn't get that split second. Joe was able to get straight back into Hopkins air space with intelligent pressure making it impossible for Hopkins to set the pace - which he needs. Steward said in commentary "Calzaghe is putting pressure on Hopkins and Hopkins is struggling to time him." Calzaghe worked less hard in terms of punching than in any other, he let footwork do the work.

He made it difficult for Hopkins to rest, forced him to take more steps than he wanted to, didn't allow Bernard to get set. Footwork.

:rofl:rofl That is the most ******ed **** I have ever heard. So his bad footwork made Hopkins uncomfortable. Its his offbeatness and akward off balance bad footwork non traditional style is what it is. I mean he even falls in head first. GTFO

    Bad balance, quality footwork.

I don't think it is possible for a fighter with footwork as bad as you think Calzaghe's is to outpoint Hopkins in 12.

    But, whatever.

So you've only ever seen Calzaghe fight Hopkins, yet you consider yourself in a position to offer an opinion on his ability. Pretty obvious from your reply here :deal

As fast as he is, Calzaghe's greatest strength, and the great surprise to Hopkins, is that he can adapt like no one else.

It's very doubtful he'll change his game at this point.

Just curious, but if Calzaghe only slapped Hopkins, why didn't Bernard simply walk through the slaps and knock him the **** out? Maybe because they're not actually slaps when you're on the receiving end? Yeah, I thought so.

Looks like Calzaghe is going to put a little more power behind his punches.

Don't you know it's because B-Hops just didn't feel like throwing punches?

If he had decided to throw punches, he would have KOd Calzaghe.

His win over Pavlik has restored his confidence, and if he gets a rematch with Calzaghe he has promised to throw punches this time, and has promised he will KO Calzaghe in Wales.

Calzaghe didn't beat Hopkins, Hopkins chose not to win...also, the biased judges and referee stole the W from him too...

Everybody deserves a second chance, especially Convict Hoaxkins :yep

Calzaghe won't stay doing something for very long that doesn't work. He'll run in and throw windmills like a teenage girl (no offense) if that's all that he feels can do to get the job done. Joe is obviously embarrassed about how he looked against Hopkins, he's determined here to try and look good - but as I said; nothing will stop him from trying to land more punches. Even godawful technique.
