One problem you have to look out here for Joe is he loves to square up. This makes him prone to catching the right hand which (combined with bad balance) sat him on his ass. He'll be on his ass again if he does it against Jones because Roy has a great right as you all know.

Jones also might be able to time Joe better than Hopkins because of the advantage on Roy's handspeed. Hopkins lacked the speed and power in that fight to negate Joe's workrate and I know that if Jones can time him consistently throughout the fight, he'll take the decision.

Depends on how you score points, but whatever. He did nothing but swarm and throw a lot of punches. JT beat Hopkins the same way. So I guess JT had good footwork to OUTPOINT Hopkins. You guys retire.

No, not really. Calzaghe beat Hopkins, i'm suggesting with excellent footwork, you're suggesting with really terrible footwork.

I usually like what you write, but this is rubbish. He has exceptional variety of punches, he has an incredible stamina, and is good on the outside as well as in the pocket. His ability to switch between distance and fighting in the pocket at will, is pretty unique. Add to that a warriors heart, that he like a McEnroe uses his anger to get better.

Of course much of his offensive arsenal is about flurries, as he doesn't sit on his punches(which he can't due to his decade old hand problems), but saying that punch output is his only exceptional ability is - well - ignorant.

These guys just CANNOT give Calzaghe any credit

If you believe what they say, Calzaghe only unified SMW because Lacy was always a hypejob, and Kessler is one-dimensional, and Calzaghe only became the Ring #1 LHW because Hopkins didn't want to go for the KO :nut

I'm no Calzaghe fan. Wanted Hopkins to beat him, would love Roy to beat him.

But Joe's a great fighter. A great fighter.

Thanks for the compliment dude. Likewise.

I think you probably didnt see the post where I elaborated. I am a huge Calzaghe fan so dont think I'm gonna sell Joe short ;-)

It is in that sense I mean it.

Joe's only exceptional ability is his output in the sense that noone in the past 20 year equals hi p4p in this respect. While his footwork is good (Mayweather etc.), his handspeed (RJJ etc.) is good etc. there has been others that equal or surpass him in those areas.

    Would you agree?

:rofl:rofl He does not have good footwork he has **** poor posturing in his fight style for one. He is hunched over with bad balance. In the Pavlik fight he could not get out of the way of punches using his legs. :rofl He could only rely on his head movement and jab. You guys are really saying this. Post some video evidence of JT good footwork.
