Well, you have to see it from Bhops' point of view...why would Hopkins fight a man he wouldn't be able to beat, except for a hell of a lot of money, in the hope that a close fight would make the world think he could have beaten Joe when they were both in their prime, and to use this as an argument for the view that he hadn't ducked Joe years ago...somehow...

Cal won't sign to fight a real threat unless they give him 20 mill. That way the fights never happen and then he can retire saying he is undefeated and "ducked" by all. It's funny how many people overrate his victories against largely unproven Kessler and even more unproven Lacy. Cal does have some real skills but he is still somewhat unproven against top flight comp IMHO.

If he's going to be making less money fighting Hopkins than he did against Kessler then something is not right. He'd have to be a madman to accept whatever bull**** that was.

    playing devils advocate here

kessler v calzaghe was made with a $10 million plus money pot before american tv ever got involved and brought there money to the table so it is obvious calzaghe can get a lot more money than what is currently on the table by simply fighting in the uk.

calzaghe wants hopkins for the money, not his legacy, if calzaghe was a legacy fighter like say kessler , he would have stepped it up years and years ago.

thats why he is calling out hopkins as he thinks hopkins is the fight that will bring him the most money.
$3 to $4 million is not going to tempt him IMO.

calzaghe has already said in an interview where there were rumors of him getting an $8 million purse for the fight , where does he sign.

it should be obvious to everyone that 2 fighters who shut there opponents down and can adapt and shut down opponents offense and best weapons and who both masters in the art of pushing the rules to the limit with shoulder charges/headbutts/clinching/hitting and holding/rabbit punching/
is not going to be pleasing on the eye , so IMO legacy wise this fight will go down as one to forget for the purists if it does take place.

and yet in america donald curry defeats a fighter like milton mccory and is immediatley made p4p number 1 fighter in the world .

$8 million and calzaghe would bite your hand off for a hopkins fight in america.

Calzaghe wants to fight Hopkins because he thinks it'll make him alot of money. If it doesn't, then the main reason for him fighting Hopkins is shot down.

I always thought Hopkins was messing this fight up. Now Calz. does this and Hopkins has a great out if he wants.

Do these guys really want to fight each other??? I think they do and I'd watch it for sure. Hopkins vs. Jones/Trinidad just does not make sense to me personally. Unless one of them look reborn like Hoyfield did after Moorer #1, why would anyone want to see Hopkins against one those used tires with no-tread.

Calz. / Hopkins is the only fight I wanna see @ this time.

Good point here. Could they guarantee Calz. at least what he made vs. Kess? It would put real pressure on Claz to make the fight then.

Joe does, unless it's for little money; Bhops doesn't, unless it's for a lot of money for him and little for Joe.

Hopkins legacy is cemented as a bully, that handpicks fights against guys that can't possibly be at their physical peak

He needs to fight a proper fighter, his own size, like Joe Calzaghe

Calzaghe doesn't really need Hopkins though...not anymore anyway...but he would take revenge for a tidy sum, that's for sure...in the end, though, it might prove more sensible to walk away, and make even more money against friendly Woods...especially if it increases the chances of Joe fighting The Man at 175 - Dawson, who suddenly gets booked for one of the two Calzaghe slots...

Blah Blah Calzhage is the one creaming his pants over a potential bout with Bhop. If he wants Bhop it will most likely be 60/40 in vegas take it or leave it Joe. The offer has been made if calzaghe does not want it so be it.
This fight would be a PPV fight, and the PPV receipts dwarf the gate.
Calzaghe should just fight Boy George and retire.
