Having seen only his last 4-5 fights...my favorite JC moment was when Kessler hit him w/ a good shot on the noggin and it didn't phase him. Kessler's body language seemed to say...'Oh F*ck'.

    Your name is noted dick-breath.

Ps. The 1st thing I said on my post was `is RJJ saying this because he believes it` THEN I gave a few other reasons.

Calzaghe has been my favourite fighter since Morales retired/semi-retired & I personally rank him as an ATG aswell as the best British fighter Ive ever seen but I know there are some silly people on ESB that dont rate him - or pretend not to rate him - thats why I made a thread, just to see what people thought of what Jones said.

Chill the **** out before I take a drive down to Wales & **** your dog :blurp

I loved the first round of the Lacy fight, when Lacy caught him with a right hook bang on the chin. Calzaghe just dropped his gloves, gave Lacy a look as if to say "You shouldn't have done that!" and just started trading with Lacy. From that point on, Lacy was being dominated.

Roy is hyping things up some but he knows Calzaghe is a damn good fighter and to say he's one of the best, although taking things a bit far, is not that far off the mark. Calzaghe has been able to adapt and beat everyone in front of him, and his last 4-5 fights have proven he can beat top flight guys. Sure Hopkins was old, but look what he just did to Pavlik. If that does not make people reevaluate where Hopkins and Calzaghe are, even just a little bit, then they are not being honest. Calzaghe has overcome problems with his hands, and instead of giving him credit for adapting to this huge handicap, critcs pile on the crap about how he slaps all the time. Calzaghe is the real deal and if Jones beats him it will be huge, because he beat one of the best of his era.

It depends on what Roy means of course. Calzaghe is one of the 150 best fighters ever. He is probably one of the best 100 fighters ever. He is not one of the best 50 fighters ever. Thus, it depends on what Roy means.

But my instinct and my brain tell me it is meaningless hype talk, the standard pre-fight fare. I'm sure I read somewhere recently Jones saying the opposite, something along the lines of Joe being one-dimensional. I'm sure it was in a recent UK magazine, I'll look it out.

SRR had no defense lol! I swear the level of stupidity that is allowed on this forum is mind boggling. I mean I dont go to NBA forums and have people saying "Kareem had a bad hook shot" or "Larry Bird couldnt shoot" yeesh. :nut

Either Roy is a damn idiot or bullshitter or you must have been dreaming. If there is one tag that cannot be attached to Calzaghe it has to be 'one-dimensional'. Call him great, call him **** but never call him 'one-dimensional'.

I don't know why people take what Roy says so literally.

First he says "Calzaghe will never be a great champion" or something like that, then he says this.

Comments like these should be taken with a grain of salt.

  10. I don't understand why Jones is respecting Calzaghe so much before the fight. It seems that both Roy and Joe are more concerned with bad mouthing Hopkins then focusing on their fight. It's a PPV for goodness sake. It needs controversy to sell. Jones won't do big PPV numbers in the states and this fight can't depend on the UK while the fight is in the U.S. They need to stop respecting each other and threaten to kill each others mothers instead.

Roy jones is my favorite fighter ever, even though im english he is just fantastic to watch.
Joe is also one of my fav fighters, he gets so dreadfully hated on it is ridiculous and a shame that some people have nothing better to do with there time then to try to tear othe people down, but hey its human nature i suppose.

Seriously though this fight needs no bad mouthing on each other, they are both consumate proffesional atheletes that have been at the top of the game for many years. They are both also a credit to boxing which seems to get forgoten about with all the petty hating.

Now I honestly in my heart of hearts believe if this fight would of happened 5 or 6 years ago roy would of won in a competitive ud. When they were both unbeaten and joe could still bang a bit, but now its a different story. Joe will win and also styles makes fights and there styles will bend together and it will be a spetacle and not a fight to miss.

Joe hits a lot harder then people seem to think otherwise kessler would of walked through him and knocked him out, seame with lacy and hopkins. So seriously forget this joe has no power BS it just dosen't wash im afraid. So anyway come fight time joes relentless agression and his sturdy chin will see him convincingly win im not sure if he can stop roy or not anything is possible.

If joe lost to roy it wouldn't be the ed of the world as roy is my fav fighter, but i just can't see it happening. Anyway i can't wait to see the fight and it will be competitive for the first few rounds.

    :good
