My prediction for this fight went terribly wrong. I thought Kessler would manhandle Joe from the outside but Joe basically outjabbed and outboxed Kessler from the sixth round. Kessler said in between round 5 and 6 that he didnt knew what the **** to do. That was when I knew he was ****ed. :blood Joe Calzaghe aint no match spoiler - hes a ****ing supernatural boxing individual with insane skills, able to adapt to everything. My excuses to Blocky, Amsterdam, JC, YesIhavearm, Prideofwales etc. Joe is very special.
Fair play Astola, we've had some words, but fair play. Massive respect to Kessler, he'd beat Pavlik/Taylor/Dawson for me.
Hey Astola. It's all part of the game, but now you see what we've seen all along, he is indeed a Supernatural, especially to be doing such at 35 against a fighter the class of Kessler. My prediction was a bit off also, I predicted a Calzaghe complete domination, but it was only a partial domination. Kessler impressed me with his heart, speed, timing and power, I believe Kessler to be one of the best fighters around and he'll bounce back and most likely beat anybody 168-175 IMO. You ought to be proud of your guy how he handled himself in and out, I know I'm proud of mine... Calzaghe was brilliant from rounds 5-11, amazing stuff.
Blocky it seems like your opinion of Calzaghe has actually gone downwards after this fight, was that because you expected more from Calzaghe or that Kessler was better than you initially thought ? I had Calzaghe winning 9-3, I think HBO had it 10-2 from what I was hearing. I never expected it to be anymore than that, it wasnt Jeff Lacy he was fighting. How do you think Calzaghe will perform in his next fight, do you really think that Calz has slown a little, or was it because of the quality of opponent ? Thoughts
I wasn't at all suprised by Calzaghe but I thought he'd do better. The big one for me was the quality of Kessler throughout the fight. I believe he is far and away the 2nd best SMW on the planet and will soon prove it.
I see why - JC indeed nullified Kesslers jab from round 6 or so. I think Kessler was expecting JC to come forward, running into the right hand - and so was I! But he cleverly BOXED his way to a clear UD. But your **** about Kessler being a nobody is still wrong. Kessler beats everybody at 168 (Bute included) and he would beat Dawson as well. Its just amazing how truly God-like Calzaghe adapts. Wow.
