Calzaghe is negotiating with Woods for a fight in March because Hopkins wants their fight to be late summer and Calzaghe want to fight twice at least in 2008. By fighting Woods means that Joe will still fight Hops in 2008
Calzaghe is negotiating with Woods because Hopkins knows Calzaghe's style represents an absolute nightmare for him at this age.
Good, he does need to fight twice in 2008. Need I remind everyone that Hopkins won't fight him ANYWAY, at ANYTIME. It'd be awesome if he did Woods in March, Hopkins in late July and then Dawson in December, don't expect it though, but it'd be fantastic.
So there is a good chance that Calzaghe will have two more easy fights before he retires. Should make some decent money too.
But Woods is the right start, just like I predicted would happen. There is NO WAY Hopkins fights Calzaghe at age 43, it's all just talk and gossip. Woods in March, Dawson in September, a solid name and a fantastic mark for his resume respectively, both better than a washed up 43 year old.
This is boxing so anything can happen, However I do keep asking myself if you are sane, the answer I keep coming up with is NO.
Right now Clinton Woods actually does more for one's legacy than RJJ because any smart fan even 20 years from now will simply go to boxrec and understand that although a prime RJJ had once KO'd Woods, it is Woods who will be seen as the much more dangerous fighter of 2007.:bart But then GBP fighters including Floyd realy arn't concerned about the smart fans are they?
Well if They're fighting in Yankee Stadium like Bhop said then it has to be in the summer. The weather is too bad to be fighting outside in NY until the summer time
