My logic- Calzaghe never fought a very good fighter in there prime. Kessler was in his prime and has yet to show that he is VERY good.

    Eubank- past it
    Hopkins- past it
    Jones- SHOT

That's why is one of his books he said he wanted nopart of Jones when he was in his prime???:think And Hopkins didn't need to fight Calzaghe he CHOOSE.

Very good post!! Calzaghe realizes this. This is clearly the reason why he has taken this position. Anyone who disagrees with Calzaghe's statement; who should he have fought that would make a difference in his current status?

How can anyone say now that Hopkins is past it. I think the Hopkins now is as good a fighter as he has ever been. Possibly better.
I'm not sure what he was p4p 10 years ago but he is as high as 5 for me right now.

You must have been watching a different fight. Joe never laid a hand on Hopkins all night long.

The old's man defense wouldn't allow it, but in the same time he refused himself to commit to any kind of offense.

The cleanest and harder blows were evidently landed by Hopkins whenever Calzaghe pressed the action; Joe "touched" Bernard numerous times, but with pitty pat punches and showy flurries ( which rightfully won him the match) but if any damage was done that night, it was Hopkin's doing.

    Who's the winner ? I can't say for sure.
But i'm curious to see a 36 year Hopkins face a 27 year old Calzaghe with hands still in good shape.

Calzaghe said Pavlik was an over rated hype job, except of course for the 25 or 30 times he called Pavlik out.

This place is Great...If Joe C Fights and Wins he basically sucks on some kind of level because of his lack of fighting people in their prime etc..IF he retires Now on Top He still pretty much sucks in the eyes of so many people LOL

Lol. Hopkins the all time middleweight great just produced what people are calling a boxing clinic - and those are the words of renowned US boxing scribes - yet the man who clearly beat him prior to this is just possibly (and only just possibly) a half decent brit fighter.

I'm beginning to like your posts!

If Calzaghe beats RJJ, then actually did fight and beat Dawson... the Joe haters on here would just say Dawson barely beat Glenn Johnson, Calzaghe needs to fight Abraham. And then on and on until he eventually lost, then they'd post a load of "exposed" threads up!

In an honest account: Calzaghe has not fought the same amount of great names as Hopkins, De la hoya for example. But he is a great fighter, beat everyone there was to beat at super middle (bar Ottke who was having none of it) then moved up and fought the best LHW in Hopkins
