Calzaghe likes to fight guys AFTER they lose. Robin Reid- Fought him after he lost his title to Sugar Boy Malinga Richie Woodhall- Fought him after he lost his title to Markus Beyer Charles Brewer- Fought him after he lost his title to Sven Ottke and then lost in the rematch and then was TKO'd in 3 by Echols Byron Mitchell- Fought him after he lost to Sven Ottke. Joe likes to fight guys AFTER someone else shows that they can be beat.
I dunno...usually I can agree with you...But he fought Lacy when most on here thought Lacy was great,,,they didn't change their minds and call Lacy a bum till after Joe beat him...so there are those who wait to see if Joe wins, and if he does, they don't say Joe fought well, they call the guy he beats a bum:tired
that is what happens to all greats ...same thing with PBF...they beat a guy easy and the guy is a bum...it is ridiculous...lacy was a beast when he fought calzaghe and he pretty much ended his career
But he actually IS ducking Dawson . . . and with good reason. He'd get his ass thoroughly whooped. That's a real newb thing to say. Can you honestly say that with a straight face to this man? This content is protected
Before the Pavlik-BHop fight most on ESB are in unison that JC's greatness can be measured after he fought Pavlik. Now that Pavlik is a looser to one defeated by JC most still can't admit the fact that JC is superb. Seems most still are delusional to the era when only Americans dominate the boxing arena. Most still forget that that era was when the Soviet Bloc was inactive in pro-boxing. Now that many Europeans are in the limelight, many Americans can't accept this reality. JC's reign is stellar. The opposition is at fault for not giving him the challenge. Most managers and American promoters are/were at doubt about the ability of their boxers to nail a sure win against JC hence their lack of interest of pitting them against him. You don't let a seven year/eight year/ten/year reign go unmatched if you seriously think your boxer has the upperhand??? So I think that the assumption that JC has not fought any credible opposition is fallacy on this premise. Most American promoters are/were afraid that their boxer is gonna loose if paired against him. I thinkl JC is great and an ATG at that regardless of what most think as a lame resume.
I'm not sure why Bhop or his fans would want a rematch aside from trying to avenge a loss. Its more than likely that even if he did get the opportunity, it still wouldn't happen. I think its pretty obvious that as soon as Joe figured out BHop and adjusted that he controlled the fight and won going away. Wouldn't that suggest that a rematch would be even more lopsided since he's familiar with Hopkins now and will know exactly what to do as soon the bell rings? Not say that Hopkins didn't make adjustments. But not throwing punches and holding to avoid getting throttled isn't exactly an effective adjustment or winning strategy.
